You are seriously overvaluing both Adebayo and Richardson. Adebayo is a decent back up center right now and has the upside to possibly one day, be an average starter. Compare his rookie numbers to Ed Davis' rookie numbers. They are virtually identical. Yeah Bam was younger, but I'm really not seeing a who lot of untapped potential. He isn't elite at anything and in today's NBA can only play one position - center, which is the least valuable position these days, especially for a guy who isn't an elite rim protector. His only real value is that he's young and cheap, but the Wolves are set for the next decade at center with KAT, so BAM would be looking at 15 MPG as his back up.
Josh Richardson is not an elite defender and not even close to the same level as C.J. He has never made any all defense team or gotten a single vote for DPOY. If you think he's an elite defender, you have a very loose definition of the word elite, and if he is, you could say the same thing about both Aminu and Turner. Fact is, none of them are elite defenders, they are all good defenders, but that's it.
And, Richardson is below average offensively. He started 81 games and SF and averaged 0ver 33 MPG. He got the bulk of MIA's minutes at SF, and SF was MIA's weakest position in terms of both NET points and NET PER. In both cases, they gave up more than they got at SF and Josh Richardson was the one playing most of those minutes:

Richardson is a good, but nowhere near elite, defender, and a below average offensive player. You could make a case that he's a little better than Aminu overall, but he also happens to play the same position as the other 22-year old MIN signed to a max extension. So, like Bam backing up KAT, Richardson will primarily be backing up Wiggins. He could also play some SG, but it really isn't his best position and if he is MIN's starting SG, that's a HUGE dropoff from Jimmy Butler.
Basically, MIN would be getting a below average wing and a young back up center for a 4 time all star, 4 time second team all defense and 2 time all NBA 3rd team player. But, if that's all MIN can get for him, I'd be totally cool with that. It would all but guarantee MIN would not be in contention for a playoff spot in the West this season. Anything that makes them weaker helps us.
