He feigned injury in his predraft workout, demanded a trade after being offered $66 million BEFORE Ratner owned the team, then loaded up the Nugget contract offer with a maximum signing bonus, a maximumtrade bonus and a demand that he be paid upfront for the entire 2004-05 season.The Nets would have had to pay him $27 million two weeks after he signed in bonuses and salary. He wanted out. He wanted to be The Man. He played it like a mercenary. Mercenaries don't demand loyalty.</p>
