I work at Longs, which is a big drug store chain that I believe is only around in California and Hawaii (maybe some other west coast states). It has its positives and negatives. I work the weekends with most of the other 16-21 year olds and all the people are really cool, other than that the job is pretty terrible. I make $7.50 an hour, work 9 hour days (technically 8 since 1 hour is lunch), we got a new head manager a couple months ago who basically ****** everything up in the whole store because hes trying to change the store to operate like the one he came from but our store is the largest in the district (probably one of the biggest in the Bay Area) so everything is just messed up. Before this guy moved to our Longs I loved the job but now the only thing keeping me there is the co-workers because they're all really cool and I've grown pretty close to them. This new manager has even made most of the assistant managers into douches as well since they now feel a bunch more pressure which they pas on to us because ultimately their job is in our hands (and if you know the people who worked at Longs you know thats a shitty position to be in).
I've actually been thinking about quitting lately because several people have quit or are in the process of quitting, one of my friends may be fired soon and if he is I'll probably leave shortly after, once I get another job lined up of course. Also, after volunteering to work the day after Thanksgiving since I was a newb, they go ahead and schedule me to work on the 23rd of December, Christmas Eve, and Christmas and they didn't ask or even warn me. Now I have to work today, New Years Eve, and tomorrow, New Years Day (and I worked yesterday). Most people just tell me its because I'm new, even though several other newbs don't work those hours (because they are girls I assume) but this is way fucking overboard, and I'm only sixteen years old working 30 hours a week the last 2 or 3 weeks. I don't mean to sound like a pompous ass but I think I've kind of payed my dues as far as getting the shittiest days and hours to work. Its one thing to make me work Christmas because I'm new, I accept that, but Christmas, Christmas Eve, the day AFTER Thanksgiving (everyone else wanted to work Thanksgiving day for the extra money and the store closed at 3), New Years Eve, New Years Day, and a every Saturday and Sunday for 9 fucking hours? Thats nuts.
End Rant.

It's a ridicuously easy job, and I honestly don't complain about the money (I make 7.25 for now, will make 7.45 starting on my birthday in January), cause I'd rather be working there than a factory.</div>
Thats the job I was trying to get before and maybe the one I go for next. I was talking to this guy I kind of know at the movie theater a few months ago about how he liked the job, he said it was really easy and laid back, plus you get to see a bunch of movies, and I'm a semi-large movie buff. I may talk to him again soon about his hours and how he likes the managers and co-workers.
