Joe: I’ll do what’s best for the team

Yeah, he got rid of players, he didn't add them.

We went from four role players (CJ, Norm, RoCo, and Nance) to one (Grant). People said that Cronin's first deadline was to gain flexibility to add down the road. Outside of Grant, Cronin didn't add anything. His goal was to build a win-now team around Dame, but he clearly went backwards in that. So either he massively failed on his goals and the plans he had, or he lied about his intentions. Either way, I can't accept that. We both want the same things, but I desperately want a new owner and GM. I don't trust Cronin to build a winner unless he lucks his way into one via the draft.

I don't have an agenda. I back up all my opinions with reasoning. It's not like a don't have an explanation for why my opinions are what they are. We would've been mad about Eric Gordon because he would've been ANOTHER guard when 4 of our 5 core players are guards. We didn't need more guards if we kept Dame. That's not about having a vendetta against Cronin, it was about the idea (but all Cronin has done is keep up with the undersized, guard-heavy rosters from Olshey's years, so it's fair criticism). I said this summer would be his litmus test and I was going to give him a fair chance. Now Dame's requesting a trade.

As you know, getting off bad contracts can be a positive. This goes back to the deabte if they were bad contracts; this can't be proven either way.

I take you at your word that you dont' have an agenda. I'm simply sharing with you that the way you present you points, belabor certain issues, etc. can make it appear you have an agenda. Crapping on Cronin for potentially signing Gordon, when he didn't. I had it on for well over an hour and it was a lot of mocking hypothetical moves and how Cronin would poorly sell it. You could have done hypothetical moves that were good or bad, prtended how the press conference would go, good or bad. The long part I saw was all very one-sided.

Cronin wants a top lotto ball ... again. Can't do that if the Blazers have a competitive team on the floor. Getting the least amount of return from a Lillard trade helps the Blazers become atrociously terrible immediately.

I think Dame identified where he would like to go. Has any all star ever publicly targeted Portland as their choice destination?

Pubically? I can't think of one. Privately, I don't know.

When Portland obtains an all-star, they better do their best to keep them happy.

yeah but instead you can fast track by trading Dame for a Chet Holmgren or Wemby or Jarret Allen..plus picks....Dame should get you a couple monster young players to build around Scoot and Shaedon

Ben Simmons, Nets scrubs, a bunch of picks.

there's an instant loser for ya

Why wouldn't we "crap" on the idea of adding another guard?

My wife is pissed at the Blazers. She told our son she thinks when other GM's called Joe, they had a hard time connecting with Mr. Rogers and his slow me thod ical way of communicating with niceties.

We hit the big time lottery by drafting Dame.

If we couldn't do the necessary follow-up to build around him and keep him bought in, heaven help us if we somehow luck into Scoot and Sharpe being amazing but we end up just a piece or two away after their value goes up.

"Small markets win via the draft"... How many Dame level talents do we need to pull from the draft to contend? According to the often cited list, there's only been 74 others of his caliber ever. I'm sure we'll hit the next 4.

Cronin better put up because this is depressing. I'm disappointed to be losing Dame, but I'm depressed about the indictment against our FO that we couldn't do a damn thing to keep him. Something is very wrong.

Why wouldn't we "crap" on the idea of adding another guard?

Why spend a long time on a negative hypothetical that is unlikely to happen? Why not spend a long time talking about a positive hypothitical that is unlikely to happen? Or be balanced and give equal time to both?

The one sidedness is what I felt was very agenda heavy.

It makes more sense to me that the front office wanted to go this route. I'd be more worried if they truly didn't and were just that incapable of building a team.

It's weird to think what the Paul Allen alternate timeline might have looked like.
There's so many questions about motives and investment and future plans at the very top right now. I wouldn't doubt the intentionality of it at all.

Because it's an 8-hour stream where we're just waiting for shit to happen.

The Gordon rumor was a legit rumor, we were talking about what was being reported. Why would we just make up some random thing to talk about instead? There was no positive hypothetical. I did start hoping for an OG Anunoby for Simons trade because I thought it made sense for both teams, but when I hope for Cronin to make positive strides in building a win-now team, it's a letdown.

Dame for Chet and picks would be great.

Dame for Simmons, Thomas, Curry and picks would be great too.

Also, I only saw one person reporting Eric Gordon to Portland and so I quickly dismissed it as someone carrying water for an agent in an attempt to increase value. I'm not sure how "legit" it was. I listened for about 90-120 minutes, and I'm providing the feedback of what I heard and how it came across to me. If you think I'm off base, I totally understand.

Sorry if this was posted already but that Dame thread is a clusterfuck.

“We have been clear that we want Dame here but he notified us today he wants out and he’d prefer to play someplace else. What has not changed for us is that we’re committed to winning, and we are going to do what’s best for the team in pursuit of that goal.”

This is all I needed to hear. I like what Cornin has done so far.

Portland Trail Blazers GM Releases First Statement Since Damian Lillard's Trade Request, Looking For 'Star Level' Return In Potential Deal (msn.com)

In other words, "I hope you enjoy winter in Minneapolis!"
No, it’ll still be the Heat but it won’t be for a crap heat package. It will be everything they can offer (still pretty shitty) and if they won’t offer the most they can, then the Blazers move on.

Well the value of those 3 is about 50% of what dames value is (and probably less), and it's going to define our future. As a franchise we can't send him to where he wants if where he wants isn't giving us a fair offer with lots of assets.
I can't imagine BJ was serious he was just stirring the pot, or he's lacking in GM acumen here. If Miami can somehow get a 3rd team involved and we get 5ish firsts then I'm completely fine with trading them Dame, but if they think Herro, Martin and a couple of 1sts is gonna be enough for Mr. Clutch, they can go fuck themselves.

Yeah, I was trying to be funny. Not one of my better attempts.
