So how much money did Cronin cleared now? Are we signing Giannis at season end or what?

If the team is truly committed to building an entirely new roster around Dame, then I hope this trade was done with the intention of keeping Ingles. He's exactly the type of player you need to surround Dame with. Floor spacer, doesn't need the ball in his hands, capable defender, good size, happy setting screens, etc.

A new owner could just… do this themselves if that’s what they wanted.

Agreed. CJ only has 2 years and Powell is on a reasonable deal. So selling the team in 2 years could have had a pretty clean cap sheet with the roster we still had last week.

I think we are doing a full on long term rebuild.

And coming off a torn ACL at age 35.

For this, he (Ingles) wants to play here - and he would only likely do it if Portland chooses to go over the cap to sign him for more than Utah would be willing to - as Portland now has his bird-rights.

He tore his knee and is going to be 35, doesn't make sense to sign on a rebuilding team.

Would you sign him for more than the MLE? I wouldn't.

I am not saying I think she will sell but as some know before a sale happens sometimes the company will try and make the company look better by cutting costs aka salary and other stuff

Now this could just be a rebuilding play and I hope it is cause I would love to see an Allen own the team once it wins a Championship in the next few years ( hopefully ) in honor of Paul Allen but not to be open to the idea this might be a possibility would be silly.

I think the job Cronin has done clearing salary while not ideal and as i have said is a gamble at least he was willing unlike the NeO who played it safe for the most part.

Ingles will never re-sign here. Pointless other than to clear more cap. They going after Harden in the summer? Oh and another 2nd rnd pick.

If we didn't want Naw why didn't we take Hayes

I'd guess we didn't want him due to legal issues or NOP actually preferred to keep him.

Yet we were willing to take a suspended roided out Louzada

He said he's probably retiring if he gets traded. Plus he's 35 years old, terrible defender this year, and coming off a torn ACL. Why would Joe Cronin, the guy who values super athletes, even want to sign this guy?

He wouldn't. It's just more cap space. I fully expect Ingles to retire.

I am not going to say I believe the Blazers will be moved cause I DO NOT but one could say this looks like they clearing salary to make the team more attractive to a NEW Owner so that owner could put his own mark on the team.

I am not saying Jody is selling BUT it would not shock me if this news broke at some point in the near future ( next 2 yrs ) just saying ....

This also has crossed my mind. If Jody is planning on selling hopefully the team will remain in Portland. Merritt Paulson Will need some help.

Are we getting Harden next season? Or maybe Lavine?

Would be a great fit for sure. And we keep tanking.

If Philly wants to sign Harden in off season we have expiring contracts to make Simmons deal? Plus draft picks?

Apparently we are valuing Hughes.

The Blazers value Hughes as a developmental prospect and continued to create financial flexibility by trading for Ingles, who is making $14 million in the final season of his contract.

It's actually hilarious that the guy who won't play again is the headliner in the trade.
