Joe did a great job and is a class act. He is 70 and deserves to rest or shift to just do periodic national stuff. The travel and doing most of a team’s 82 games is rough. I’d imagine Dave will come over and do the color commentary with Kenny.

I’d be shocked if vally wants anything to do with that job. He’s got a great gig doing studio and running his analytics company. The color guy has to be a bit of a company man too. I appreciate Vally’s candor in his current gigs.

I liked Joe a lot. He did the right thing by Sam to wait to announce his retirement but he too deserves a lot of respect.

I don't see Cally leaving a national gig. Boyle does a lot with the NHL network too. Dave Maloney is certainly in the discussion. I don't have any other suggestions beyond who was already mentioned.

Kudos to Joe for being a class act. While not Sam level for Rangers fans, I will miss him as well, he's been in that role for 19 seasons, a long time. Crazy how for the first time in 40 years the Rangers will have a 100% new booth.

I would love to see Cally get the role, he's great on ESPN, and way better than Ferraro. If you put Albert and Cally together, that's the top booth in the NHL. And he wouldn't have to leave his ESPN role on their # 2 team; he could do both. Many announcers have a national role, and a local role as well.

I would say if it isn't Cally, I think it will be Boyle. The only way I see Maloney getting it is if they feel obligated since he's been around the Rangers for so long, like a rite of passage. Short of that I think it will be Cally or Boyle, and I would go Cally (I would be fine if it's Boyle though).

Joe is going to be 71 at the start of next season, Sam is going to be 78 at the start of next season. I view it more as two guys, who have done their jobs well for many years, are 70 + now, and it's time to retire. Maybe if they felt next season was a SC season they may have stayed, but since Sam announced he was retiring early this past season, and Joe going out after 19 seasons with Sam, and not having a new partner for maybe one or two years, seems logical. I don't read much more into it than that.

I will say, to me, it sort of goes with the theme of a lot of changes before next season. Drury gets the coach he really wanted in 21 and 23, Mike Sullivan. I also expect big core changing moves this summer. There will be a lot different with the Rangers next season, including in the TV booth with Kenny and Cally or Boyle most likely.

I'm excited for it and am very much looking forward to draft week and July. There should be a whole heck of a lot of Rangers news.
