So your sources think he will stay in Europe? Or do they think our team will be shitty enough, and fail miserably at our retooling to have him starting or being the first big off the bench?

I have to admit that I'm perplexed by the Blazers' big man situation. LA, Hickson & Freeland all are true PFs who can play a bit at the 5 spot. Thabeet looks to be a bust, so other than re-signing Przybilla, the Blazers don't have a true 5 or even the prospects of one. Not much in the way of good prospects in the draft, unless you want to take a flyer on Cody Zeller. No real help in the free agent market, so that leaves trades. Dave on Blazers Edge is talking about Emeka Okafor, but that would be a spendy option. It looks to me like it's either a move like that or just decide to play small with Przybilla and a bunch of PFs.

Spencer Hawes would be my choice if they were going after a center in free agency. Followed by Omer Asik. Assuming as a rational person would that Hibbert will be matched by the Pacers. Maybe JaVale McGee and Robin Lopez after that, assuming the price was good

McGee is scary because he's batshit crazy, but surrounding him with Joel and maybe another solid vet could do wonders?

Get me some Crazy McGee! Ha, Ha! I'm ready for his kind of crazy on our boring team. At least he's not Whirled Peas or Rondo nuts. Those guys I'd pass on.

I liked that Rasheed was a little crazy. It was the fact he was such a DICK that was the problem.

Agreed

There's "I want to win so bad it makes me do weird shit" crazy. That's the good crazy. That's the Sheed, Kevin Garnett, Rajon Rondo and even Stephen Jackson crazy. Then there's the "I don't know what the hell I'm doing out here" crazy. That's the bad crazy. That's the Ricky Davis, Javale McGee crazy.

Of course, it's a continuum. People like Vernon Maxwell and (The artist formerly known as) Ron Artest clearly have both.

I remember seeing some stat that the Blazers were amazing with LaMarcus at C. The only thing is, he doesn't like being called a C (the Tim Duncan syndrome). But TS. We can have a Przybilla type (Stiemsma?) for limited minutes, and maybe even start him there, just so Aldridge can pretend, but now we don't have Oden, Aldridge needs to nut up and play the bulk of minutes at C.

But I agree: having Hickson AND Freeland seems like overload. Work out which one of them will get us something we want and keep the other.

(Of course, my plan is to trade Aldridge for Harden and Perkins. That would get the C Aldridge wants, but he'd be gone, so he wouldn't get to appreciate it....)

As far as Centers go, I'd totally take a look at Myeres Leonard. I know 11 is high for him, but watching him a few times, his footwork and fluidity of moves was very impressive. I know he'll get the "big white stiff" tag, but I'd challenge anyone to watch some video on him before labeling that. He needs about 20 more pounds on him, but his offensive game is very refined for his age.

I'm not exactly counting on a European player to come over and bring toughness

I hope he never comes over

I'm not so sure that Freeland will be a PF and not a C in the NBA. He is still young and seems to be filling out. He plays close to the rim and seems like he could end up a C. Not a beast Shaq or Howard type C, but somewhere between Camby and Przybilla. Time will tell, but I think it is much less certain than Hickson.

I think the Blazers should draft a center with a late 1st rounder or 2nd rounder. Fab Melo could do. Having a 4/5 rotation of Aldridge, Hickson, Freelance, Melo, and Przybilla would be sufficient I think.

I would be ok with any center in the low first or second. I am actually hoping Miles Plumlee gets a look in the second round. I would have preferred his brother, but Miles is a big with nice skills. I am anti Syracuse players though, so no Melo....either one

Plumlee probably won't be drafted for a reason. I'd rather go with Festus Ezeli. He's gettable.

He's another good one to look at for sure. Plumlee will get drafted in the second round I think. Festus in the first....maybe

Festus for the rest of us! Sorry, Seinfeld fans, couldn't resist.
