Joel Freeland has been given until July 10 to agree a €1 million buyout with Unicaja Malaga if he wants to jump to the NBA next season.
...
“I want to win something and if it can be in (Malaga), all the better. I have a contract here and that’s all I’m thinking about. Like every player, I’d also love to play in the NBA. If I get the opportunity this summer, I don’t know. I can’t say if I’d say yes or no.”

It must be a tough choice. He is living like a King over there and making more money.

And playing fewer games, possibly winning more games, and being a bigger fish in a smaller pond. I'm sure it is a tough choice.

He also needs to be careful with his words. No reason to tell the media his true feelings. How fo you think the Spanish fans would react to him saying "I want the fuck out of here" after they overhauled the roster last year to rebuild around him?

And they missed the playoffs.

except that Europe is a mess and Spain in a Depression with unemployment near 25%, the USA beckons

So what you're saying is, he really is living like a king in a country that has 25% unemployment? Young gold diggers are throwing themselves at him, I'm sure.

Agree. He's saying the right thing.
I hope he comes!

or they (Spain) could eventually leave Euroland like Greece may and the currency plummets 25% or more, better have that Spanish contract payable in U.S. dollars!

He's playing coy to get a better Blazer offer.

Or he is playing coy to get an extension with higher pay from his Spanish club? I've read a lot of quotes over the last year from this guy and that's the impression I got, but who knows...
