John Salmons to Portland?

RLEC/Outlaw and a second round pick or two for? ... hmmm ... maybe this?

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=cpnvgy

I know it's not exactly a "blow your socks off" kind of deal but it fills a hole at the 1 with a decent upgrade and gives us a legitimate backup power forward in Gooden who is expiring anyway and can be let go or resigned if so desired (and shouldn't be too expensive to keep).

I would do that, but I'd really like to get my hands on Andre Miller.

its hard to imagine but amazingly people see potential in sergio and outlaw at this point lol.

a pg who cant score, defend, shoot....

a sf who is awful on defense after 6 years in the league...and still has no clue

Not too bad, but I think not so good that it's worth firing those bullets (RLEC, Outlaw). I'd rather wait and try for a better deal, right up to the deadline. If the deadline comes and goes, Portland can let RLEC expire and pursue Andre Miller in free agency, an even better version of Hinrich and who's age dovetails nicely with the development of Bayless as the eventual starter.

as far as kp not being at fault for our sf problem....i disagree....he should have fixed it by now. we would have 3 more wins if our pg and sf didnt avg 4 points a night

So after all the dust settles (assuming anything happens at all, which i kind of doubt) we're left with this going forward:

Hinrich/Blake/Bayless
Roy/Rudy
Salmons/Batum/Webster
LMA/Gooden/Diogu/Shavlik
Greg/Przybilla

(Red=guys living on borrowed time or likely gone by next season)

I admit it doesn't scream instant "contender" to me, but assuming LMA and Greg blossom into what we hope they can become, this makes us no worse than "solid" at the three and one, and our frontcourt gets a little tougher.

EDIT: Scratch this. On second thought I like the idea of getting Miller more if possible this summer.

Is there any chance we can trade for Gooden's beard without being saddled with Gooden hisself?

Well at least Salmons would give us some depth Now at the three. If Webster was healthy I would say NO Way. But he is not. We can always move Salmons up stream in the summer.

Because we want to have 3 about-all-star-level SGs locked up for the next 4 years? Seems that that's a great consolidation for talent, but still leaves us a bunch of holes and a SuperLogJam at SG.

Well, Martin is 6'7'', same height as Salmons. Couldn't he play small forward?

Probably. It seems, though, that we'd be back in the position of our PGs not being good enough to get the ball around to Martin, Roy, LMA or Oden, and in the little I've seen of Martin he doesn't seem like either a) a finisher at the rim or b) a defender. Don't get me wrong, I think he's quite good, but he seems to duplicate a lot of the things Roy brings (both good and bad)

we really dont have a choice... we are losing games cause our starting SF cant score. i dont car ehow good his defense is.... you cant have you starting SF in the nba get 5 points a night and beat good offensive teams. if we had a great PG...batum could start but with sergio starting..its a problem. blake hid batums offensive problems cause blake would get you 14-17 a night.

batum and sergio should never start unless you have studs at the other 4 spots

false.

It says that with that trade, SAC goes 1-27 for the rest of the year. Ouch.

On the upside, it wouldn't hurt their chances at landing one of Blake Griffin or Ricky Rubio or whomever actually goes first overall.

Always looking on the sunny side. I admire that.

"With the fourth (d'oh!) pick of the 2009 NBA Draft, the Kansas City Kings select: Hasheem (I went to college longer than Petro and Saer Sene) Thabeet!"

I say no to Salmons, RJ, and any other scrub that can't play D. I don't care about scoring. Give me 10pts a game, and absolute lock down defense at PG and SF and I'm sold. KP go get Wallace please!

Completely agree. Salmons is an above average defender though.

Gerald Wallace should be the target. He's the best attainable defender out there.

and i thought my trade proposals were bad lol...see above toutlaw post.

WE ARE NOT GETTING WALLACE SO PLEASE STOP.

also do you enjoy watching us get beat down against by teams like GS cause we cant break 100 points? well if batum keeps starting...thats what will happen

ur nuts if u dont want RJ or Salmons....

Wallace is impossible but Butler and Deng are realistic options? Interesting world you post from.

I like Salmons, but it would only increase the logjam unless an additional trade were made.
