Mike, FL: Is John Wall the No. 1 pick in 2010 Draft. He was awesome at the Hoop Summit game.

Chad Ford: He was awesome and he'll compete with Ed Davis and a few other freshmen for that. However, there is some buzz that Wall believes he might be eligible for THIS year's draft. I've been doing some digging and will be filing a story later today. The short rub is this: Wall is a 5th year senior and depending on how you read the collective bargaining agreement, 5th year seniors are eligible for the draft as long as the turn 19 in the calander year (Wall does). The league is taking a wait and see approach. If he declares, they'll research and make a ruling. If he does declare and is ruled eligible (two big ifs) he's a Top 5 pick in this draft. Maybe Top 3.

Interesting! Would anyone in their right mind trade the draft rights to Wall?

Who knows if any other team out there would be dumb enough to trade him on draft day, all I know is that this kid is a fucking AMAZING basketball player. Elite, elite, ELITE PG prospect--certainly the best I've ever seen (on both ends of the court) LIVE at his age.

His current ability is seriously astounding, both offensively and defensively. If dude gets into the draft, KP needs to make it happen. John Wall on this team would be curtains! In fact, if he does become a Blazer when he comes into The League, I'm nominating that as his nickname right now.

:devilwink:

He's a stud. Top 5? Yeah, no kidding. I'd say he's the 2 pick if he is eligible for this year's draft.

I'm more excited about Wall than I was Bayless. I would trade bayless and someone else and our pick for the rights to Wall. Wall is the future.

Yeah, Wall and Rubio are two guys I'd give up Bayless and Rudy for. I value both higher than Griffin.

Is Wall still considering Oregon for his 1 year of college?

I'd have a hard time giving up Rudy

I don't think Bayless alone could possibly get a top-2/3 pick. Among the Blazers other main assets (Roy, Aldridge, Oden, Batum and Rudy), Rudy is the one I'd most be willing to include.

Or Outlaw, but I assume Rudy's value is much higher. An elite point guard prospect will take a lot of return value.

Wall is either KU, Baylor, NC State, Duke UNC, UK and Miami

I could see maybe UK if (when) Xavier goes there.. both seemed to have a good chemistry on Saturday at the summit.

Also Top 5in 2010 will probably be like Wall, Henry, Davis, Aldrich and Favors. Evan Turner is also a sick guy to watch this year.

As a KU fan, I'd like a decision soon, because Lance Stephenson (Born Ready) could be coming to KU instead.

Also, Wall has added Florida too his list, fuuuucckkkk him and Kenny Boynton would be dirty.

Obvious caveat: I have never seen the kid play, so what I know about him is based on what I have read about him online. (EG DraftExpress)

Among the lowlights: Wall makes bad plays and gets away with it because he is more talented than the people guarding him. Likes to taunt opponents. Likes to blame team-mates for his own mistakes - or just ignores them entirely. Long on ego and short on maturity.

Call me a cynic, but all the talk about his raw talent and potential rings a little hollow if the kid is a major headcase! We already had one JR Rider, thank you very much.

Financially, it'd probably be a good decision for Wall to declare considering what a weak draft this is. He's a top 3 talent, and that's assuming that Rubio declares. Basketball wise, hard to say from one game but he definitely has the athleticism to be an immediate contributer in the NBA, I'd think he could get backup minutes at worst. Make it happen KP!

Wall cant declare this year.

you obviously missed the point of this thread stating that there is a CHANCE he could due to him playing a 5th year of HS and turning 19 in September.

lol yes apparently I did.

Wall cant declare this year.

first off id take this kid at number 1 depend on my team needs... if i need big griffen if i need small john wall.... second off... there is absolutly zero chance this kid comes to portland... zero.... get it out of ur heads

(i) The player (A) is or will be at least 19 years of age during the calendar year in which the Draft is held, and

(B) with respect to a player who is not an international player (defined below), at least one (1) NBA Season has elapsed since the player’s graduation from high school (or, if the player did not graduate from high school, since the graduation of the class with which the player would have graduated had he graduated from high school); and

i hope that puts to rest that theres no way john wall can NOT be eligible... 1 nba season must pass since his date of graduation...

Never say never, but the cost would probably be too high.

way to protect young players, NBA. Why don't you clarify your own rules first without the prompting of a 19 year old?

He'll probably go to Kentucky where Calipari's good buddy Worldwide Wes will take care of him with anything he needs, then he'll go pro.

I wouldn't waste a draft pick on a guy who needs 5 years to fight his way through anything as simple as high school, and a religious school at that.

Doubtful he'll survive fame and glory in the NBA with those kind of mental limitations, but he could be a star in the Special Olympics.

This surprised me as well. Especially knowing how star athletes in high school are treated when it comes to grading.
