Now the Season is over, and Winter Meetings on the Horizon, here's a good PBS Doc., if ya' get bored......There are several documentaries on Joe D, on You Tube, and this one has been my own personal favorite.....

Was Joe the Greatest to Play the Game,??? I don't know, I never got to see Him play.

I have read a helluva lot of books on Joe, and His miraculous life in baseball, and seen some ESPN Classic Films of the Yanx during Joe's reign........so was he the greatest to play the game??? I kind of tilt towards Gehrig in this respect, but can see why Joe gets that moniker.....

...Matts, it's an all day rain day here today and there's no baseball or football...so believe it or not, I watch the whole thing...Joe D. was a strange dude.

...^^^^

yes He was, definitely in a World of his own, in more ways than one......

A Stoic, hermit; for a public figure......the type we just don't see these days.....

By the way 59, its nice to see the Raiders on a path to redemption.....just one or two more pieces, and we will see the AFC West Silver and Black return to Days of Glory.

What I'd give to see a Raider's/Packers Super Bowl, ........

I wouldn't know who to root for, .......

^^^the Raiders still need to learn to finish games...they let both Chicago and Denver off the hook near the end of both games...the Raiders could
/should be 5-1 right now.

...oh well.

Haven't they already exceeded last years win total?

We'll never know what kind of numbers he would've put up if hadn't played his home games at old Yankee Stadium with it's ridiculous cavernous "death valley" LCF and CF.
I never liked that part of the old ballpark.

Monuments on the field in CF.

Would annoy the hell out me when a Yankee player would hit a ball 430 feet only to be caught.

...that's correct, Rick...they still have to address some things that could take them to the next level and make them a force to be reckoned with again , but they're definitely headed in the right direction.
...it's actually fun to watch them play again.

I grew up in Trenton, NJ A classic landmark was Cesars in an Italian neighborhood called "the Burg". They made the best burgers which weighed a half pound. They reserved a special place there for Joe. Sadly, the neighborhood changed and it passed on like the by gone era of Joe DiMaggio

Derek Carr once lived in his big brother David's shadow, until Derek blew up his brother's passing records at Fresno State.

Derek @ Fresno: Sr. Yr- 456 Pass Completions, 50 TD's -(113 career TD's - 24 INT's) / 5,083 yards -(12,843 Total Yds in 4 yrs). A 156.3 Sr Yr Passing Efficiency Rating, 152.8 Career Rating....(4 yrs Fresno St.)

David Carr: Sr Yr - 344 Completions, 46 TD's - (65 Career Total vs 22 INT's, in 4 Yrs) / A 165.9 Sr Yr Pass Rating, 151. 2 Career Efficiency rating in 4 years at Fresno St.

b/t Cooper and Crabtree, IMO, these are 2 of the top 5 Receiver's in the NFL........

NTM- this, home video of David; flat out insane:

Wow, was there DiMaggio or MLB/Yanx Memorabilia on the Walls......?

Matt ... I don't remember that detail but I would assume it existed when Trenton was AOK. Up until the late 80's People could leave doors and windows open in those days because your neighbors looked out for you. I remember the old ladies scrubbing sidewalks. Trenton was once spectacular. It was a workingman's town with factories, bars and packed churchs.

Think how I feel. I'm a die hard Ravens fan. At one point we lost 5 games by a total of 22 points and every game we were in it. The largest margin was 8 points.

...stampede, stuff like that will drive you nuts as a fan.
My wife agrees. Blood pressure up. I wish I was a Dolphins fan and give up before the first play of the season. My son seems relaxed.

...not sure what happened to Miami this year...I thought they were supposed to be pretty good?

According to my son they had disappointment in coach Philbin, decision making in the 4th quarter, suspect Tannehill as unreliable and have an overall karma that when the game is on the line they blow it. Those two games when they were a superb team directed under coach Campbell were exceptional. Unfortunately, playing NE proved how good NE is.
