Yes, because after all, 1 month of stats is a more tangible barometer than 5 months.

...That's why "batting AVERAGE" is based on a whole season instead of 1 month... and why "earned run AVERAGE" is based on a whole season instead of 1 month.

...Who gives a shit what CC did for 1 month last year when he's been sucking for 3 years?

Sorry Rick but I beg to differ- your examples are not "cherry picking".
Those are real life concrete bottom line stats for a specific significant point of the season.

As was the ONE month you mentioned that CC put up at the end of the season.

Okay - a few points before I finish up my end on this subject.

1) I don't believe I was cherry picking when I brought up the Sabathia issue. If he had struggled along barely getting past the 4th or 5th inn and I mentioned only his 2.87 ERA- that would be classic "cherry picking".
But he pitched at least 6 inn in six of those 9 starts, and 6.2 in three of them as I mentioned.

2) My vision is fine and I can read numbers- and CC's overall performance for the season was lousy!

3) A couple of you alluded to one month from CC but I specifically mentioned his final two months Aug/Sept (and one start in Oct).

4) I began my comment on CC by saying:
"Okay fellas, we can always use a good laugh".
For some reason it turned into some kind of Spanish Inquisition, lol.

5) Maybe my comment would've been better received if I used the word ironic instead of "laugh"?

6) Why is it we don't hear the words "cherry picking" when a couple of Yankee hitters are singled out for having a bad 2nd half or final month?

Apparently you missed my post #22, I was cherry picking.

...a change of language doesn't change the facts...reading and comprehending is not predicated on which language it's written in.

Some people just refuse to read and acknowledge the actual written words of others.
I'm considering some other language which may be more easily read and understood.

Seriously, you cherry picked by bringing up CCs one good month at the end of the season completely ignoring the fact that he's sucked for so long. You picked out his final month to make him look like more than he really is.

Really just this once repeat after me, "I blg cherry picked CC's last month because I was trying to show that YES he may have sucked for 75% of the season but he did finish strong". C'mon...YOU CAN DO IT!

^^^Yeah, I don't think he's going to do it.

...unfortunately, I don't see much of a change this year for the Yanx...or this board.

...how long before this thread is locked?

All I know is this shit better not spill over to my Thread, If I have to create a PT3 I'm going to Fucking lose it. :rotfl:

...I don't blame you...I forgot about your original thread also being locked...and because of the same thing.

C'mon Rick.....don't you think some are over-reacting and getting their shorts all twisted just because I happened to point out an anomalous performance by a pitcher who did indeed sucked in 2015?
My god, if you go back and look at that post of mine I began it by saying:
"Okay fellas, we can always use a good laugh......I hope you get a chuckle from it - after all, it's only baseball"....

My god, it's as if I burned the flag or something.
wtf?

And once again....just for the heck of it - can you at least get off the "one month" thing?
I thought I at least was clear when I specifically mentioned his August, September and one October start. Sorry if I'm the only one who found it somewhat comical and quirky that when the Yanks were kinda floundering around in Aug and Sept - CC of all people was doing much better than expected. Dam, has CC kicked your dog or something?

lol

...for the sake of the board, will you please just drop it?

I knew you couldn't do it.

How the hell do you include August when his last 2 starts in August totally sucked. His ERA for August was 3.80 just slightly better than his yearly era but not exactly anything to write home about. So yes we ARE talking about ONE (1) month (September) where in 4 starts he pitched to a 2.25 ERA.

So again, PLEASE! stop making 4-5 starts over the last month or so sound like he was great for the last 3 months.

utterly pathetic, bordering sickness of some sorts, IMO....

Alright, before this gets way out of hand, and ANOTHER thread gets screwed up lets put this to rest.

CC finished 2015 with a 4.73 ERA and 1.42 WHIP, and that SUCKS!
Those numbers aren't difficult to see, and say.

Glad you've chosen to engage me further instead of just insulting me and acting as if I've committed some kind of mortal sin because I had the audacity to find it kinda noteworthy and/or comical, ironic or whatever and point out how the Yanks' worst, most maligned SP performed surprisingly well (IMO) "down the stretch" as the team was playing .500 ball in Aug (14-14), Sept (14-14), and 1-3 in October.
Once again, when I made that post I even began it by suggesting it may get a laugh from the board......instead, I was villified and ridiculed and charged with "cherry picking"!......lol, unbelievable.

The Yanks were exactly 14-14 in August and September, (1-3 in Oct)...
.....I guess this is also cherry picking?
Are you cherry picking the cherries when you want to discard two starts by CC in August?
I included ALL starts in August, September and October and it came out to a 2.87 ERA and a 5-4 W/L record.

That's all- that's how it goes.
The Republic will continue to stand. :)

Incidently, he began August with a 5.54 ERA.

Okay Rick, glad to have a chance to wrap this up- thanks.
