If the Nets got an offer for a guard they wanted, who would you prefer they trade?

Josh Boone

- Better rebounder, defender.

- Has been solid when given the minutes.

- Poor free throw percentages

- Limited upside.

Sean Williams

- Better shot blocker and shooter

- Has been up/down so far in his career

- Bigger potential.

- Locker room problem?

Sean Williams probably.

What team could use him though?

I prefer to keep Boone if we dont get another backup center in the trade.

Based what I have read, he is a very good teammate. He is always cheering the team on. He has also been quoted saying he loves this team and his teammates.

Should put a poll up.

As far as your descriptions, I don't think you can say Sean is a better shooter. FT shooter yes, but I think Sean's only converted a couple jumpers. And I don't think Sean is a lockerroom problem. Redecorator yes. I'd replace that with undersized.

I'd keep Boone. You know you have a solid back-up center for years to come with him. I don't know what Williams can be. Yi and Anderson should be the starting and back-up PFs of the future.

The Wolves have sort of a glut of swingmen: Mike Miller, McCants, Gomes, Carney, Corey Brewer.

Would the Wolves be interested in a Brewer for Sean swap? Still to early for them to give up on Brewer? Should the Nets do it?

Doubt it... unfortunately for them only Miller is putting up numbers.

Throwing some other names out there:

Brandon Rush
Joe Alexander
Wilson Chandler
Donte Greene
Nick Young
Dorell Wright
Julian Wright
Ronnie Brewer
Courtney Lee
Jeff Green

Won't be a straight up swap for some of them. Nets would have to include something else like a pick or salary relief.

What on god's green earth makes you think the Knicks would trade Chandler? Most of those players are not going anywhere.

I still think that Sean can become a serious player in this league in the next 2 years. I'd prefer to give up the luxury of a 6 million expiring contract, but if it comes down to Sean or Boone....damn it, I'd keep Boone. :-(

I didn't put a poll up because I wanted to discuss this, also, this isn't a trade thread. Just wanted to see who you guys thought is more valuable.

Here's the thing.

Josh Boone has a real shot at becoming someone like Udonis Haslem, which would rule.

Sean Williams on the other hand has K-Mart potential but is unlikely to ever reach it. I would hate it if he goes into another system and becomes just that, though again, unlikely.

I would keep Sean Williams, I like Boone but I want to take a risk.

What about Malone as one of the greatest PF's as well.

Derrick Coleman was also a great PF for a while with Buck Williams.

I could have also included enforcer as well.

Buck Williams put up nice numbers but numbers don't tell the story. He was a bum.

I'd trade Boone, Sean's defense and shotblocking >>>> Boone's abililty.

Sean Williams does not have the potential to become K-Mart. That is a ludicrous statement.

i'd trade SWat...i like him but boone has shown continued progress while SWat has regressed...the choice is easy i think...the hope is SWat develops at least to a point where it is hard to choose between him and boone...

Sure he does. Guaranteeing that he would become that is ludicrous, but all potential is is a possibility. It's a logically sound statement and given his body type and mold that he would have to develop his skill set as a PF, it's not outrageous to say.

In the case of Sean Williams all you have to do is point out Nene Hilario it took awhile for him to develope and he was dumb as dirt then it all started to click. Sean is a hard worker he is going to get better at this game and his shotblocking/rebounding/post moves will only improve I think people forget that he is 22 yrs. old. Josh Boone so far has proven he can't stay healthy, has no jumpshot, has no FT shooting ability, is at best a very very poor mans Udonis Haslem.

IDK what people see in Boone I see a poor big that gets away w/ missed assignments and is injury prone...but hey I'm not the GM.

One of the fans of SWAT here and I'd trade him instead of Boone. They both have potentials: Sean to become K-mart and Boone to become Haslem. Which one is more likely? You know the answer.

I would rather roll the dice with Swat's potential to be a good PF than deal with boone's confidence problems. Also boone always seems to get outplayed, outmuscled by other centers.

You should be banned for this:tsktsk:

And I'd still trade Boone over and over and over again. I'd rather have Sean because of his upside and he is raw w/ high potential even though he does get high. Boone at times turns into little bitch on the court, add the potential to get a top 30 player for him I'd sign up for that in a heartbeat.
