"Hodge who was nicknamed, "Da Jules of Harlem on His Way 2 Stardom," at Rucker Park in New York, is rumoured to be very close to signing an NBA contract with the Nets."

If Hodge becomes a Net I'll be happy. I think he'll be much more useful than Ager. I like the Quote he had here

"I know that I can help a team as an energy guy," said Hodge, who is averaging 17 points in two games for the New Jersey Nets at the Rocky Mountain Revue. "I can do for the Nets what Darrell Armstrong did, which is come in and be a lockdown defender. I know I can defend three positions. Guys aren't going to get their average against me."

Hopefully his fall from grace as an NBA first round pick and eventual life as a basketball vagabond has forced him to address his weaknesses. In theory, he and Dooling could come in together and really create some disruptions to the other team.

Not to mention Najera, Hassell and Harris. Those guys can all make it tough for a guy to get things going.

I like Hodge, and i love defense. Would approve of this signing.

Surprised that he's emphasizing defense, as well. I like it!

Isn't he also supposedly a really funny guy/interviewee?

Someone made a thread about all the things he's said...

i found a site that had a list of his funny comments from college. you should be able to find it . . .

I like the way he talks about defense but how's he looked on that end of the floor in summer league thus far? I've seen him getting some steals which is encouraging but that doesn't always tell the whole story.

he seemed to be great on defense last night, though did have a few fouls on him. I've been saying it since the first mention of him back in may or whenever, it'd be great to have him on our team. I think he fits great.
I'd really like to have seen Ager develop, but if we get Hodge...sorry Ager.

Wouldn't be upset either. Worse comes to worse, we cut him or use him in a trade.

wait.... so we trade marcus or a possibility of a first round pick (pending on GSW making the playoffs) and then we are goin to sign hodge? hmmm i dont really have any insightful background on hodge...

anybody wana fill me in?

He also looked very tall to me in the summer league games.
closer to 6'9" than 6'6"
looks way taller than CDR to me. about Sean's height.

Hodge will probably replace Ager who I can see being traded or bought out. That's if Hodge makes the team out of training camp.

he is very long tall with long hands, but still pretty fluent, nice ballhandler compared to his height, even played a bit of pointguard.
not much of a scorer though. He doesn't shoot it much from the outside.
runs the floor well, and really tryes hard on defense.
not a jump out of gym athlete, but not bad either.

from what i saw.
is someone disagrees they will correct me.

well lets see

Anyone have his stats from the Australian League? I was watchin some Youtube clips of him, and couple
ozzys commented on how he only played half a season and became an MVP candidate. I dunno if that's
a bunch of crap but that's pretty cool.

Never mind, I decided to not be lazy, here you go

If we had to chose only one training camp invitee I would much rather chose Hodge over Carroll. When you're only going to 5-6 mins a game anyway, I'd much rather that person be a lockdown defender than a streaky shooter. Shooting needs a rhythm and takes time while defense is constant

I would love to get Hodge. He can play PG,SG or SF! Very versatile! Can knock down shots and play decent Defense. Also he is vocal and can be a great presence in the lockeroom specially with so many young players on the team! Plus he is only 24 years old! DO IT THRON!

if true, I wonder if another trade is coming. Or if it's just that he'll get a partially guaranteed like Carroll seems to have.

Also, has anyone noticed that the front office is trying to add guys who can fill the weaknesses (perimeter defense and post offense), at the expense of guys with post d and perimeter offense? It seems like overcompensation tbh.
