Do the Indians still have their trademark for their name and logo? Political correct world hasn't caught up to chief wahoo yet?[/]
In other PC news...on an international telcon this morning, you can no longer use the term "brainstorm" in the UK as it offends epileptics.
The approved alternative for brainstorm is "thought shower".
Both my Son and Wife have been epileptic for 27 and 15 years respectively. Neither they or I would ever consider a Brain Storm as derogatory, in fact its better a metaphor/cliche, for seizure cerebral abnormal activity.
I find brain shower more improper, tho' not derogatory, (borderline to some at best), tho' I could see the former as offensive to some, (insinuating some may say), - "what ya' saying I need to clean my brain"...LOL..
in their attempts/trying to be politically correct, they've created the slang insult they tried to avoid.....! You can quote me on that, did anyone in the Telecon have a relative/or themselves ever have to deal with epilepsy, or was that the result of one closed minded epileptic....?
Epilepsy is more than nerve mis-firings, its also a loss of memories, both short and long term, mostly permanent losses. It can also be the beginning of something deadly.***
Now, Swiss Cheese Head, or Brain Dead, would be derogatory....
Whatever happened to the dual meaning of :brainstorming for new ideas, or 'Brainstorming for a cure", now "Brain Showering" IMO for new ideas, lacks rationale/logic... Brain Showering is more derogatory....in the opinion not of myself, but as I asked both Son and Wife, if they felt offended using each cliche...The latter was offensive. To them or simply was not proper context at all. Moreso thoughtless of its composer/pen. Only the opinions of two long time seizure sufferer's.
As being the care taker of both, and tending to grand mall and petite of the many seizure types, It's a very very grueling task, and condition.
*** I wish on NO ONE, an epilepsy event(s). A Seizure, can result in a stroke and/or death, with additional serious negative physical effects. Epilepsy events are a HORROR to say the least. But- "Brain Shower" seriously what are they thinking, smoking or drinking, (don't tell me perfume they call Beef-Eaters? (The Brits Gin is Livestock cologne). Many have seen a meteor shower, not a good term at all. Their is no path of consistency to a seizure, as brain waves fire backwards, forward, every which way but logical, or routine. A meteor shower at least has a projectory path.
Unless the Brain Storm is simply a mis-nomer confused b/t problem solving or seizures, that may make sense. But Brain Shower, why not a Brain Hurricane, or Brain Tornado, to be honest a
mental earthquake is more like it, ya' never know when its going to strike, how long it will last, or what the collateral damage outcome will be....just in our 3 collective opinions....
"To hell with the Queen's English, the Indians damned us with Tobacco, the Royal Bitch with her rules of grammar "....
