He got Napoli out all night with two Ks. What the fuck would you walk him for?
 
drew hasn't been bad, he's been horrendous

you don't IBB Napoli but you don't groove him a fastball

regardless it comes back to the offensive ineptitude

Vic seriously it's not rocket science just good plain old common sense. Pitch to a guy with power who could hurt you with the game on the line & 1st base open or pitch to a guy who's hitting a buck & a quarter who's in a 1 for 32 slump. Look at it this way, this would have been equivalent to the NL where you walk the 8th place hitter to pitch to the pitcher. Same odds.

But putting that aside we didn't lose because of that lame ass decision, we lost because guys are just not hitting & there's really not much Girardi could do about that.

Why was Jeter swinging on 3 and 1. He should be taking or bunting. He is a distraction to this so called team with all his hoopla bullshit.

Tho' Shrek is not the Yankee Killer he used to be as a Roider, I'd plunk him just for shids and grins, .... I'm tired of hearing his big mouth, and antics, put him on the DL, with swollen balls....!!! Remove him from the game....! (no throwing at the head tho'.)

Jesus tap dancing Christ, AGAIN! think NL, you walk the #8 hitter (especially if you know he can hurt you) to get to the pitcher which is basically what you have with the 125 hitting Drew. Your love for Girardi is mind boggling, I don't know if you're related to him or you're just a bad judge of the game. It's not rocket science just plain fucking common sense.

But again, this is not all on Girardi so I'm not pointing the finger just at him, this offense is just pathetic. BLAME GAME? Human nature. We don't have exclusive rights to that. Everyone does it. And believe me there's more then enough blame to go around for this poor excuse of a team.

You & I are on different ends when it comes to Girardi, You say I'm stepping on his nuts while you seem to polish the mans shoes. The guy just makes more bad decisions than any manager I've ever seen. (And no I won't list them all). But again, he can't hit for everyone, that's on the players. So enough BLAME to go around. Hell I won't even mention that for the second time this week he started Soriano over Ichiro even though the latter had superior numbers against the opposing pitcher. Oh wait.

He struck Napoli out twice in the game and he homered on a 1-2 pitch. You give the guy credit for beating your ace and move on. If there's a runner in scoring position and a base open then perhaps you walk him to get to Drew. With two outs in the top of the ninth of a tie game you're not intentionally walking somebody unless it's Barry Bonds in 2004.

Vic there was a base open FIRST! but hey, Tanaka himself is not without blame either. Napoli in a very unprofessional manner called Tanaka an idiot for throwing him a fastball & he was right. He got Napoli out the two previous times on spliters & on 1-2 count you shake off McCann twice and throw a grapefruit size fastball over the heart of the plate. DUMB! really dumb. With the count 1 & 2 you have to make him chase one or two out of the zone. Rookie mistake but costly.
 
He threw a bad pitch on 1-2 which was the problem and really the entire point. The conclusion that Napoli should've been walked because of a bad pitch selection on 1-2 doesn't make sense.

No its NOT the point, I never said or even implied that he should have been walked because of a bad pitch selection, I said he should have been walked right from the start. PERIOD! God I hate repeating myself but WHY would you pitch to a good hitter with power that has hurt you in the past with 1st base open in the 9th inning instead of going after a guy who hitting 125 has been 1 for his last 32 & couldn't hit the water if he jumped out of a boat in the middle of the f'king ocean?

Because nobody in baseball walks people intentionally with the bases empty and two outs.

You should give up on this issue because it's irrational and just stems from you looking to trash Girardi for no reason. Simple question which I pointed out previously. What did Napoli do in his prior three ABs against Tanaka?

You obviously missed the part of one of my previous posts where I VERY CLEARLY said that this loss was NOT all on Girardi. It was just IMO and several others an error on his part to pitch to someone who could & has hurt you as opposed to someone who couldn't. Simple logic.

Napoli himself was shocked and amazed he got that pitch. Hence the idiot comment afterwards. He figured he would get something nasty and strike out again.
