The person settled before we even got in the court room today, at least I got to talk Blazers with an old friend that was there.
 
I've done jury duty a few times. Never for any length of time though
 
I was on a mock jury yesterday. Got paid $250 to listen to a medical malpractice case. We were questioned after each witness and then at the end we had to deliberate for a verdict. I'm not allowed to comment on the case until after it's settled but that was fun.

They were looking for someone they could buy off....250 was a cheap payola for them...you should have held out for more!

Are you not allowed to mock comment until after it's mock settled?
 
Aw, just go do it. It is actually interesting to see how it all works. Follow your consciences and the law the best you can. No one can ask for more.

I'm in this jury duty bullshit now. Fucking dregs of society and I'm talking about the Jury Pool.
 
Anyway I got off Jury Duty, dismissed due to cause.

The case was a huge one, 120 potential jurors for 12 slots. The Judge says its about a 2 week trial and I didn’t see them selecting a Jury this week, there were a ton of people and they moved very slow. It was unique in that it was technical a civil matter in an all criminal courthouse, I think the state was trying to classify someone who was convicted and served time for sexual assault (he was in his 20s when he committed the crimes and was 56 now) as a Sexually Violent Predator (SVP). It seemed a bit Draconian, personally as they can hold them indefinitely in state mental hospitals. Shit is fucked up yo, If I got paid from work I would have totally served on the jury and performed Jury Nullification, that shit sounded way fucked.

Anyway, the expert witnesses were going to be psychiatrists and psychologists from Coalinga State Prison Hospital in central california. Luckily, one of my best friends from college who I'm in frequent contact with is a psychiatrist working there who probably knew some of the witnesses so I alerted the judge.

The only other people were people who couldn't speak English and people who had financial hardships. Most of them were bullshit.

"I don't understand English very well".

"How long have you spoken English"

"About 20 years"

The other were douchebags who thought they were more important to their "projects" than they actually were. "IF I'M NOT THERE, THINGS DON'T GET DONE".

What a bunch of fucking scrubs just all over. Fuck this shit.
 
I was on a grand jury once, for about a month. Did lots of cases. It was kind of fun, you get to ask questions:
"Sir, after you slapped her grandmothers face with your penis, was that when she hid the crack pipe from you, the one you later retrieved from her vagina?"

In the multnomah co jury room. They don't believe I'm a dog. Grrrrrr

It's grand jury selection. There are signs everywhere telling me about being responsible regarding the internet and social media, I wonder if I should read before posting here?

I greatly dislike jury duty.

Seems like they always pick me to sit there, but never get picked for cases.

You get bus fare or paid per mile, guy said he walked here, still gets paid per mile. Isn't Corbet in multnomah county? I wonder if I call tell I just moved there?

I did it last week...8am to 6pm...my check for 10 bucks and 8 for mileage should get here in 4 weeks...lunch wiped out the gas money. I always get picked and then wait all day to get sent home

It can be longer. When I was on, after the 30 day term, we got called back for an occasional day to finish up cases for about 6 months afterwards.

Pretty sure that if you hump the bailiff's leg you'll get out of jury duty.

Of course, you'll probably have to spend a few days in the pound.
