Trying to find topics here that will interest everyone so here's an oldie but a goody that I ran with a few years back that some you may have missed........ This is mostly for the depend wearing gum smacking geritol old farts on this board. Oh wait, that would be pretty much everyone on here....

Maryann or Ginger?
Beatles or Rolling stones?
Munsters or Adams Family?
Bewitched or I Dream of Jeannie?
Temptations or 4 tops?
Bonanza or Gunsmoke?
Frank Sinatra or Dean Martin?

Okay for me it was................

Maryann. I just loved the little cut off shorts.
Beatles
Munsters
Bewitched. There was just something about Elizabeth Mongomery
4 tops. Though you couldn't go wrong with either one.
Bonanza. But Gunsmoke was okay too.
Dean Martin.

Mary Ann
Beatles
Adams Family
I Dream Of Jeannie
4 Tops
Gunsmoke (tough call)
Martin (he was cooler but Sinatra had the voice)

Maryann or Ginger? Ginger
Beatles or Rolling stones? Beatles
Munsters or Adams Family? Munsters
Bewitched or I Dream of Jeannie? Barbara Eden
Temptations or 4 tops? 4 Tops
Bonanza or Gunsmoke? Gunsmoke
Frank Sinatra or Dean Martin? Sinatra

...I went with Dean Martin because the Dean Martin Show was a classic...as were the Dean Martin Roasts.

Same reason here & I have all of them. Plus you're right, he was much cooler. And from what I hear very approachable while Sinatra was pretty much a dick.

They would crack me up. Nipsey Russell, what a great name lol.

Does being 36 make me one of "the depend wearing gum smacking geritol old farts on this board"?
in any case:
Ginger
Don't like the Beatles or the Rolling Stones, but if I had to pick one it'd be the Stones
Munsters and Adams family are WAY before my time, but I'll say Munsters...
Bewitched or I Dream of Jeannie -> see above... but I'll say Bewitched
Temptations/4 Tops -> neither...
Bonaza/Gunsmoke -> neither...
Sinatra

Steve just for the hell of it, one of these days just put on the Sgt pepper soundtrack by the Beatles. Or even the Rubber soul album. I guarantee you that you'll become a fan.

I don't know... I've always been a fan of heavier stuff (Metallica, Pantera, etc.) I do like classic rock too though... now if this question had been Beatles or Led Zeppelin, totally different answer... so Since Stones are classic Rock and Beatles are more classic than classic rock, that is why I aired on the side of the Stones...

...the Beatles are the ones who really got and roll going...without them, rock and roll may never have morphed the same way and become what it is today...and we may never have even heard of the Stones and Zeppelin, not to mention so many other bands and artists.

that may be true... just too, dare I say it, Justin Bieber for me... I understand and respect what they did for music... just could never get into them...

^^^...lol...and will someone PLEASE explain to me how the hell some people have been duped into believing Miley-fucking-Cyrus is both good looking and talented ?

...and Hammer, you really had to experience the 60's to understand them and convince yourself that they actually happened.

I really want to believe that just once more in my lifetime the actual art of SINGING makes a comeback. I'm truly amazed how much money is being paid to no talent slutty bimbos like Miley Syphilis and Brittany Spears. Not to mention all the rappers who have made reciting really bad poetry into a art. How talking became a talent I'll never understand. I guess I just miss the days when talent required actual SINGING like Larry Chance, Johnny Maestro, Jerry Vale, Gary Puckett, Jay Black, Roy Orbison & many others.

As far as the Beatles, not to long ago I was down loading some music & burning some CDs, putting together the greatest hits of..........well many. My point here is that with groups like the Animals, Turtle, Monkees, Dave Clark five, Beach Boys etc, It only took 1 CD. Others like Elvis Presley, Neil Diamond, Chicago, Elton John, Billy Joel & the Stones it filled up 2 CDs. With the Beatles it took 6 CDs. And the most amazing part is that they were only around for 7 years.

Miley Cyrus is a complete disgrace...

I know they were popular & they had a profound affect on the industry, BUT I just can't get them...

Rick I think you are showing your age when it comes to modern music. I am sure that parents and grandparents back in the 60's looked at the Beatles with their mop hair and thought that they were a disgrace, just as some though Elvis and his swinging hips were pure evil. Although I will agree today's music takes less talent then in the past but to say they are talentless is not true. If that was the case anyone would be able to pop off lyrics with a good beat.

The good beat you speak of again takes no talent as its for the most part computer generated. as far as popping off lyrics any half way decent poet can come up with the shit these clowns spit out.

The part I find humorous is that these rappers think they invented the game. When in reality rap has been around before most of these sewer mouth clowns have been alive. jimmy Dean "Big bad John" around 1961. Lorne Greene "Ringo". Hell even Johnny Cash's "A boy name sue". was a form of rap. All from the 60s. And even Blondie came out with a song called "Rapture" in 1981 that was a nice mix of singing & rap. The biggest difference between then & now is that #1 the poetry was a damn lot better & #2 unlike todays rap-crap, you could actually understand EVERY word.

Let me put it to you this way Al. Ever make love to a Barry White song? A Luther Vandross or James Ingram song? Sure you did. Everybody did. Now take today's no talent garbage. How the hell do you make love to a song about bitches & Ho's? I rest my case.

WORD!. Beleed dat, ight?

That so sounded like my dad. And for the record I just turned 40.

Al your dad sounds like a very smart & logical man. You should listen to him.

not all current music is about hoe's and killing cops..
like for instance I am listening to Pandora right now at my office...and what comes on Hootie & The Blowfish...no im not making love to Hootie but you would make love to Rolling Stones or the Beatles either

Okay the only PANDORA I know is the box. If I'm not mistaken Hottie & the blowfish is what 20 years ago? Not exactly current. And as far as making love to the Beatles or Stones. Maybe not the Stones but the Beatles, apparently you never heard, "And I love her" or "In my life" or the many other beautiful songs written by Lennon & McCartney.

Talk to your dad. Like I said he sounds like a smart man.

I was very young when Presley hit the charts and remember how people reacted to his music. The older folks who listened to the great pop singers of the time just totally freaked out. They were somehat ready for the Beatles who cam along in America when Rock & Roll was 10 years old. Anyone who cares to admit it will remember with the exception of Jerry Lee Lewis all "stars' who appeared on American Bandstand were lip synching. I liked all the early trend setting rockers like Holley, Berry. Jerry Lee and more I could easily name. By the time the Beatles came on Holly was dead, Lewis disgraced in England (later they would kiss his a@@ in '72), Berry was in Jail and we had Dick Clarks Philadelphia buddies like Avalon and Fabian up there. Yep they had bad acts back then. I like to sing and play myself and achieved a lifetime goal when some of my friends and I went into a studio and recorded songs we had written ourselves. Maybe we didn't sell or push hard enough but as a friend of mine said if it were easy we could all do it.

I know they were popular & they had a profound affect on the industry, BUT I just can't get them...

...oh I understand, and I don't expect you to "get them", anymore than I got my parents music...every generation is that way...like I said, you had to be there at the time to experience the Beatles and that whole utterly insane decade of the 60's.
