_______________________________________Not taking sides but off the top of my head I can think of a few catchers around the league that IMO I'd take over Martin.
Don't know the numbers off hand but aside from Posey, I'd say the Kid in Atlanta I think his name is Gattis. Mesoraco of the Reds, Molina of the Cards, Lucroy of the Brewers, Gomes of the Indians & though he's hurt even Wieters of the Orioles. But like I said, JMO.

...but, but, but, he doesn't count because, well, only catchers who played between "2006 and 2014" can be considered.![]()

Fine with me....but, Ellsbury has had a very decent season.

I'm a bit surprised, maybe not, you didn't even mention Mauer, who caught thru the 010 Season, won several batting titles, a MVP, and 3 gold gloves, from o6 on. Prior to Joe's conversion to 1st base, and DH, he took home more brass, than Mar-tan will in his career.....

Fine. We have Posey, Molina and Mauer. 3 ALL-STAR types.
And I did notice your little back-hand insult about you maybe NOT being surprised that I didn't mention Mauer.
Look here Matt, I'm not trying to convince people that Martin has been one of the TOP catchers in baseball since 2006.... I have said Martin (imo) has been, and still is a GOOD offensive catcher and yes, he could be called an EXCEPTIONAL offensive catcher....
Sorry to break your heart but...Posey, (1st full season 2010) unfortunately, suffered a serious injury and is now a part time 1b, and surely is a much much better hitter than Martin..........Mauer clearly has been a great hitting catcher.
Molina yes of course a good offensive catcher.
Here is a comparison between Martin and Molina based on 162 game average including this year.
Trust me, the comparison doesn't get any better for Molina if you just use their seasonal averages.
Molina- HR 12, RBI 72, SB 5, BA .284, OBP .339, SLG% .402, OPS .741
Martin- HR 16, RBI 75, SB 13, BA .258, OBP .355, SLG% ..398, OPS .753
Glad to help you out Matt.
