Do you remember to have them punch the card? Maybe the next one will be free.

Hope you feel better soon.
Funny you should say that. There was a punching sound as they secured my stitches.
I feel fine.
Bad part is that now I get to have two large gauge needles stuck in that same arm nearly on top of the spot where they did my arm surgery. Ugh, not looking forward to that. The arm surgery was to enlarge a vein in 4 spots so that they get a good flow rate during dialysis. They use balloons to enlarge the vessel. It creates so much back pressure that it felt like my head was going to explode for about half a minute.
Here's possibly the good part, they gave me lidocaine and I think also may have given me fentanyl. I've had it once before and got no particular pleasure from it other then a relief from pain. I'm allergic to most other pain medicztion. Can't even take aspirin or advil.

Operation was a success. Seems like I have the same operation about once a year. My last one was in April of this year. I think I've now had five in the last almost four years.

Damn Lanny, I'm kinda new here and I had no idea you were having such issues...hopefully, you'll be back on your knees in no time.

j/k...good luck, and I hope you get well a.s.a.p........ This place would not be the same without you.

Admit it my friend....you just like nurse gazing! Glad your surgery went well....!

I thought you were criticizing the surgeon's work.

I've got a shitload of medical problems due mostly to my combat experience in -68 Vietnam. Counting this, I've had nearly 30 operations, lost my eyesight in one eye, and get thrice weekly procedures at the VA hospital because of the loss of my kidneys. Okay, I'm tired of this subject since it depresses me and I'd rather be optimistic about life. Please bear with me if I occasionally need to release some pent up pressure due to what happened to me, after all, these continued procedures which mean no vacations ever and a virtually nightmarish experience lasting from when I get up at 3:30 AM until I get to bed at night at about 11 PM sometimes throwing up at random intervals and feeling exhausted and lousy. A couple months ago I passed out when I stood up and fell on the floor hitting my butt on the floor and my back and head on a nearby chair. It's no fun, and now back to other subects.

Glad to hear the operation was a success. Get well soon. You’ll be back to your usual crotchety self in no time.
Funny you should say that, yesterday instead of the usually really good natured medical staff that I ran into, I got some crotchety people which put me in a crotchety mood. I didn't get into a better mood until about a half an hour after I left the hospital about 5 1/2 hours later. Just seeing and talking to my wife puts me in a good mood. She has magic powers.

Lanny, you are one tough dude!
Was it a shunt they put in for Dialysis?
Hang in there Pal!
I've had a shunt (fistula) for about four years. It was opening up a shunt that was slowing growing smaller affecting my trans sonic readings but not my instantaneous flow rates which have measured good. Trans sonic readings measure a long term average flow rate. Before that, I had a series of catheters in my chest and neck. One of my chest catheters got infected about 3 or 4 years ago and I wound up in intensive care for about three weeks. Was out of it for about two weeks. Nearly died. That's the first of two trips to intensive care. The second was serious but not nearly as serious as the first trip to ICU.

They should do a remake of the 6 million dollar man starring lanny. Heck, i have only had 2 surgeries in my life. First my tonsils in the 8th grade and detached retina surgery about 5 years ago.

Glad to hear it went well buddy.

My Dad is up to 48 major surgeries. Some of these guys are freaking troopers (LITERALLY in Lanny's case), much respect.

Dang, in the car world that would be a complete rebuild. Is he doing ok now?
Overall he's actually pretty good, he runs about 20 miles a week and works out quite a bit. He was just born with a lot of issues. The last open heart surgery he had, he was back running 3 months later. Thanks for asking!

...sometimes throwing up at random intervals and feeling exhausted and lousy.

Certain doses of Cup'll do that to ya..

At any rate, I hope you recover well, Lanny.

My father was a dialysis patient for 7 years.
