Apparently he has studied the inner city schools extensively and compiled a list of things they
all need to do to become effective. As effective as the "White" schools. He says it is not the teachers fault things are not going well, but they need to be trained, trained like Navy Seals, special. And he says the schools can do it, you don't have to expect changes in the child's home.
Then I read this article, the schools in American are the best in the world!!! If you subtract out the inner city schools.
I did not get any info from Shyamalan, or the article as to why vast difference exists.
Anyone got any idea what is causing this difference?

I was lucky enough to have my grandson who is now 7 1/2 live with me until he was 6 years old. I read to him every evening until he would also read to me. We did this from the time he was 2 until he moved to Eugene with his parents. He went to Kinder school here and 1st grade in Eugene. He was reading quite well when he started 1st grade. I didn't want to leave that base work to chance.
