Krieder, of all players, breaks his hand blocking a shot.

Get well real fast.....you'll be missed...for one month.

Just crushed. (according to YES....Mike LaGrecca, Michael Kay show.)

.......Rangers have not confirmed this. Hope they(YES) are wrong.

......confirmed by TSN

No really? Damn..I guess Miller or Haggerty will be used. Hopefully he's back by the opening series if they make it.

If they make it...LOL. My lord we are funny. We are making the playoffs, it's like 96%.

As for Kreider, it is a loss, but hope he is back for the Flyers series, which would start in about 3 weeks.

In the short term Miller will be on the 3rd line now, which is okay with me. We love Kreider, and he is a threat, but recently he hasn't done much outside of that one big game against the Wings (2 goals). Last 21 games he has 4 goals, and one game with 2 points (against the Wings).

In the last four games, Kreider has played 13:51 (OTT), 11:20 (CBJ), 9:53 (NJ), 10:12 (PHX).

He usually plays 12 minutes or so, which isn't a ton. A loss, but we can live without him until the playoffs IMO. We'll miss his size most of all. If we win tomorrow night we will be in great shape and should be okay with out him. Hopefully 3 weeks is enough.

Exactly, chuck. His size and speed will be missed. Now maybe, MSL
can do his thing.

This is a big loss, one that I think we're underestimating a little. His speed and forechecking keep teams honest. Miller may play well, but this will make getting in alot more interesting now.

Look, it is a loss for the next few weeks, but there are many guys on this team that would be bigger losses. 4 goals and 7 points in his last 21 games, playing 12 or so mpg is not great.

His speed does create chances. His size helps clear space. And his shot is a weapon, when he gets it on net. So yes a loss. But I don't think this is an oh no now what do we do type of thing.

Step, Nash, MSL, MZA, and maybe Richards, Hags, and Brassard would all be bigger losses upfront IMO. We'll be okay for a few weeks. As long as he is back for the playoffs, or maybe game 2 or 3 worst case, we'll be okay.

We have the schedule to absorb this. After tomorrow at Calgary, at Edmonton, at Vancouver, at Colorado, Ottawa, Buffalo, Carolina are our next 7 games. One team in the playoffs. We should go 5-2 there with or without Kreider.

it is a tremendous loss, not because he has been the most productive ranger, but because this win streak is a result of TEAM effort...his absence will hurt, maybe not right away, but it will, then it will hurt more when he has to get back in game shape, of course i could be wrong, but odds are i won't be... cut me mick!!!!! you stop this fight and ill kilya

If we lose games to the Flames, Oilers, Canucks, Sens, Sabres, and Canes because we are missing Kreider we have bigger issues...trust me there. That's 12 available points, and we should get at least 8, if not 10, right there.

Then let the chips fall where they may against Philly, at the Avs, and at the Habs.

We truthfully should get 12 out of 18 points IMO. That would put us at 96 points, and would put us in the 2/3 spot in the Met pretty much for sure.

We play 6 non-playoff teams out of 9 games....no excuses fellas. Even at 1-2 against the 3 playoff teams, we should still be at 12 points out of 18 IMO.

McKenzie tweets: “Not sure how or why it happened but my tweet on Chris Kreider appears to have disappeared from my timeline. I’ll re-issue it momentarily. Chris Kreider expected to be out of NYR lineup for extended period: at least a month, maybe much longer. Hand injury, possibly broken bone.”

Now if he misses the Flyers series, then all bets are off, that would be a big loss due to his size that we need against Philly.

But if he can be back in 3 weeks and ready for the Flyers, then we'll be fine IMO.

We shall see what happens with this injury and how bad it actually is. Zucc ended up being much less time than everyone was reporting.

Freaking Kings give up a last minute SH goal to Wash. At least STL beat Toronto. Hopefully the CBJs win in reg.
Kings held them to a point so that's not bad.

Kings over Caps in a shootout and Columbus over Detroit 4-2.

Good night for us.

CBJ won in regulation over Detroit. Biggest thing we wanted there was a 2 point game.
The Caps only got 1 point after leading 2-0 and 3-1.
And the Leafs lost again.

So CBJ, Detroit, Wash, Toronto all have 80 points now. Two will be the WC teams and two will miss the playoffs.

Philly has 83 points with 71 games played. We have 84 points with 73 games played.

Leafs have played 74 games. Wings have played 72 games. CBJ have played 72 games. The Caps have played 73 games. We also have the TB over all 4 teams, which is key.

If we can get to 96 points, which we should with our schedule, that means those teams need to get 97 points to pass us. They would all need 17 points.

The Leafs cannot get to 97 points, IMO they are done.
The Wings and BJ's would need 17 of 20 possible points.
The Caps would need 17 of 18 possible points.

Once again we are in a great spot for worst case 3rd in the Met. Which again shows we will play the Flyers barring a complete collapse. 6-3 and we get Philly. Better and we could get home ice against Philly.

Even if they give Philly a pt tomorrow its more important they simply get 2 themselves.

I actually think Kreider is a big loss even though he hasn't been scoring that much. I agree the schedule sets us up for success regardless but we need Kreider vs Philly period. This is not good.

wow chuck you are very confident man i hope you are right, but as i can tell from how this season has gone, its been very streaky, play good for 7 games play bad for 7 games..... and i have a feeling that we are going to be dissappointed on this road trip for some reason. (maybe start of season got me worried), nothing is guaranteed in this league unless your top 4 teams in league.. that being said, i hope we streak at the right time (playoffs).

lets see how it goes

I am confident we are going to make the playoffs yes. The reasons I am confident of that are:

We are playing well right now.
Math wise we are in a dominant position.
Our schedule is easy. Doesn't mean we will win those games, but 6 of 9 against non-playoff teams, a couple against the worst 3 or 4 teams in the NHL, makes me say we will be good to make the playoffs, and finish worst case 3rd in the Met and open at Philly.

As far as Kreider goes, if he misses 3 weeks and is back for the Flyer series I think we are fine. Again if we cannot beat Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, Ottawa, Buffalo, and Carolina without Kreider we have bigger issues than just Kreider being out, and quite frankly we don't deserve a playoff spot anyway in that situation.

Buffalo is the worst team in the NHL. Edmonton is the 2nd worst team in the NHL. Calgary is the 5th worst team in the NHL. Ottawa hs fallen apart. Carolina has fallen apart.

Simply no excuses. We should be 3rd in the Met even if we lose tonight against Philly.

Now if Kreider misses the Flyers series as well, yes we all agree it is a big loss and would hurt us a lot in that series. I just don't see it as this big loss for our last 9 games given our position in the standings, and the fact that our schedule is pretty easy.

Oh the frigen irony that the injury would be caused by blocking a shot

Losing Kreider is a huge blow. This team as a whole already lacks size and toughness as it is. After Callahan left Kreider is one of the only guys in the top 9 who really finishes his checks. He was a wrecking ball in that series against Boston last year. I really, really hope he will be able to get back for the playoffs. Yes Zucc was able to come back fairly quickly from his hand injury, but his shot hasn't been the same since.

Aside from Miller, the guy who is gonna have to step up here as well is Pouliot. I like his game recently. His line with Hags and Richards has actually been going pretty well. He needs to continue to throw the body and play to his size.

Don't like that we haven't heard a peep officially from rangers what the hell this hand injury is and time frame which the skeptic in me thinks might be worse than original rumors. Hope they clear it up today. This is a big god damn loss as kreider excels against the big physical teams that the rest of the team doesn't and while glad that this should mean miller should be back up(he should have been back up for awhile he doesn't quite have kreiders hitting or scoring ability. Hate to say it but typical ranger injury SUCK LUCK :MARIS61::MARIS61:

You have to put it in context Prod. Would it be a big blow if he missed the Flyer series...yes. Is it a big blow considering our position in the standings and our schedule...IMO no.

Let's make it simple. If we simply beat the worst team in the NHL Buffalo, the 2nd worst team Edmonton, the 5th worst team Calgary, and two teams at MSG that are out of it and have fallen apart Ottawa and Carolina, that is 10 points.

That would mean CBJ would need 15 out of a possible 20 points to finish ahead of us. That would mean the Caps would need 15 out of a possible 18 points to finish ahead of us. AND that also assumes we get 0 points home Philly, at Vancouver, at Colorado, and at Montreal.

That is all VERY unlikely and not having Kreider shouldn't affect that one drop IMO. If we cannot beat those bad teams without Kreider (4 goals and 7 points in 21 games) quite frankly we do not deserve to be in the playoffs anyway. That simple to me.

I have a feeling this roadtrip is going to test our patience.

Injuries suck but they happen. The Pens just lost Malkin for a few weeks to a foot injury. Hopefully he can make it back for the playoffs.

I don't disagree sc, it is never easy going out West. But I stand by my comments. If we don't get at worst 3rd in the Met division given our standing and schedule I don't want to see anyone complain about Kreider being out. If we blow this and lose to these really bad teams, we don't deserve to make it anyway IMO.

And Mess nailed it as well. Injuries happen. The Pens and Wings have been crushed. If we can't be without Kreider for 3 weeks, who is the 4th or 5th forward at best on the list of guys we can afford to lose, we aren't that good to start with.

Plus I like Miller getting a shot. He would be in my top 9 starting tonight.

Apparently Kreider was injured in the Columbus game, meaning he played 2 games with it. Kid doesn't lack toughness, that's for sure. Just hope he didnt make it worse.

Coach Alain Vigneault, while saying the team doctors were still in the process of evaluating the injury, did say Kreider would not accompany the team on its upcoming four-game road trip. The team charter leaves on Thursday for Calgary. Vigneault said the team would have more information in a “couple of days” but did not rule out surgery, saying that was one of the possibilities being decided upon. Vigneault added that Kreider suffered the injury in Friday night’s win at Columbus, meaning he played against both the Devils and Coyotes on Saturday and Monday, through the injury.

AHHHHH, The surgical possibility rears its ugly ranger head!!! Shit

A guy like Pouliot must continue to play more physical now. We will miss Kreider's forecheck and hitting but as Chuck said we are getting enough scoring right now to weather this storm. When St Louis starts potting goals it will be less of a concern. The team is playing really well and not getting much from Marty

Looks like Nash/Stepan/MSL is a line tonight. Not sure I love the top heavy line. Maybe Miller plays with Brass and MZA. Hags maybe plays with Richards and Pouilot.
