Just three more points and Lillard passes Sidney Wicks for #10 on the Blazer all-time scoring list.

C'mon 'dog. Don't be unreasonable. You can't expect him to have a career night every night.

I figure if he can average 75% career night effectiveness every night, that gives him a 44.2 ppg average.

82 * 44.2 = 3,624 which should be sufficient to have him pass LaMarcus next year as well.

Same reason why pre-season totals don't count. They go based on regular season #'s for totals, because it evens the playing field. Everyone has a chance to play 82 games in the regular season, not everyone gets the same opportunity to play the same # of playoff games.

On a related note, I don't think it would make much of a difference in the grand total #'s of the all time scoring leaders. Kareem would be at 44149 and Malone would be at 41686. No one else would be above 40K.

Dame has 2,024 points in 75 games this year. If we're conservative and say he plays in 75 games next year and averages 'only' 25 ppg, that would give him 1,875.
* 8,880 + 1,875 = 10,755 at the end of next year. He should own the #4 spot at that time.
* 10,775 + 1,875 = 12,630 at the end of 2 more seasons. He'd take over the #2 spot at that time.
* It would then take him another 3 seasons (5 seasons from now) at 25 ppg to catch Drexler at #1.

I'm looking forward to watching him climb the ladder.

Also that second contract. I'm sure he'll sign for another five, but I expect his production will be reduced. Of course, by then he will be on his Victory Lap tour after three-peating.
 
What if LMA decides to come back to Portland after his contract with the Spurs is up? He said he wanted to be the greatest Blazer ever.

Makes no sense. Pre season games don't count, but playoff games do.

Just me, but as much as I like Dame and appreciate what he does for us; it's gonna be a sad day for me whenever Clyde does get passed. I was SO happy he went to Huston, and got the ring he deserved. For him to finish with Hakeem couldn't have been any better a way to finish his career. (sorry about the trip down memory lane....) Anyways....

I was much younger and less emotionally mature in 1994; I personally saw Clyde as a turncoat and ungrateful diva... my feelings are much more mild and sympathetic to him now but I won't be too sad when Clyde falls to #2.

They equalize it so that players on playoff teams don't have any statistical advantage over those on crappy teams.

Me too. I hated how he dogged it in Portland and then all the sudden found the fountain of youth when he whined his way to Houston.

I'll be glad if/when Damian passes Clyde. But I'll be much happier if he leads the team to a title.
