the #1 pick this year, which could end up getting you John Wall.

I know theres a strong man-crush around the blazer board for him. And if the team who gets the #1 pick (probably the Nets or Wolves) decides to trade it away, would you guys accept a trade if it meant giving up Oden + Batum? (I don't think Oden would be enough, imo)

It fixes your problems at PG and now you'll have the most electrifying backcourt in the NBA. Also, Camby and Pryzbilla make oden expendable.

And do you really think a team would give up Wall for Oden + Batum?

Try getting your fan base excited about that trade.

If we can do it w/o Batum I'd do it without blinking.

Hell yeah you trade Oden for Wall if it's out there.

Hmm... probably. I really like Oden and would be shocked if he doesn't make multiple all-star games, but Wall is younger and more of a sure thing at a position of scarcity.

Sheeeeeeeeet....id have troubles giving up DJ Mbenga for Oden...DJ has just an ugly of a shot, can collect as many rebounds given the playing time and has two functioning legs

if you offered oden for wall... all you would hear is laughter on the other end.

expendable how?

09/10 PER ratings... Greg 23.3, Joel 11.2, Camby 13.8
10/11 Ages... Greg 23, Joel 31, Camby 36

Not the most outrageous hypothetical I've read, but I'd hold pat

I'd trade Gred Oden's penis for John Wall. But, they say you don't trade big for small.

Greg Oden should go down with the ship. Stays until the end, either multiple rings or injuries forever.

Tough call for me as well. Oden, if healthy, will make multiple All-Star games. I'm not sure I'll be shocked if he doesn't, but only because I won't be shocked if he is hindered by injury throughout his career.

I don't think I'd make the deal, though. Then again, I'm an Oden homer, and I'm willing to give him more time to develop, and more importantly, to be healthy.

Pass. Healthy Oden is the true difference between championships and no championships. I don't view Wall as that kind of piece.

Also taking into account Oden is only 22 and I'm more than fine with keeping him. His ceiling is too high to give up on him so easily. He made huge strides this year compared to last and there's still plenty more to make. If healthy, he's simply a beast. A beast I want on my side.

You said it yourself. IF HEALTHY, he IS more impactful than Wall.

Just as an aside, this is John Wall: [video=youtube;v4CbQGBbUOw]

Has Wall improved his shooting at all? I haven't watched much of him, but I thought he was going to break my TV with the bricks he was throwing up... Fantastic in the open court (gee, sounds perfect for a McMillan offense ;) ) and around the basket, but I'm quite certain I've never seen such a poor outside shooter.

I don't care about HS highlights.

And yes, I did say IF he stays healthy. I'm well aware it's a risk, but for me it's definitely a risk worth taking because his ceiling is so high. We're not talking about a guy that's just a good player that fits well or something. Healthy Oden that continues to improve is a guy that can dominate a game on both sides of the floor. Those kind of centers aren't easy to find.

Expendable in the sense that you guys wouldn't be left shitless in the gutter at C. You guys need a PG, you get it with a future superstar in Wall. you lose Oden, but Camby and Pryzbilla definitely don't make you guys 'lacking' at that position.

I never said I'd do it if I were the Nets, I was simply asking if they offered it, would the T-Blazers accept.

My gut feeling is that Blazers brass are not ready to raise the white flag on Oden, so my gut feeling is that if someone calls the Blazers with this offer (with or without Batum) - they will say no.

They might be wrong, but they might be right.

Who knows. Glad it's not my job to make this decision.

If Oden was a guy with a bad attitude that showed no fight to want to get back on the court and showed no improvement in his game, then I think the Blazers might consider something like this. Instead Greg is exactly the opposite of all of that. By all accounts he's a hard worker with a phenomenal attitude and he definitely showed a lot of improvement this year compared to last. Definitely not the kind of guy you give up on.

John Wall is great! He's the new Steve Francis! No doubt he'll win just as many championships, because high scoring, dunking S/PGs always do that.

we'll have to agree to disagee. There is huge differences in what those guys provide compared to Greg. Based on whats normal for career projections of NBA players, I'm expecting those differences to expand greatly

Two years from now I wouldn't be that surprised if neither Joel or Marcus was still in the league

For Oden alone, yes. Add Batum to the mix, probably not. That would put all the risk on the Blazers' side of the ledger.

Since Oden has a major injury question mark (even though I think the question mark is slightly overblown), I'd trade Oden straight up for Wall. I wouldn't include anything more, though.

The injury issues are the only reason I'd trade Oden for Wall. If I knew for certain that Oden would be healthy enough to play 70+ games a season from now on, I wouldn't even consider it. I'm happy with this play when he's been healthy, in the context of him being a presumed franchise-changing #1 pick.
