Juwan Howard a Blazer?

Why? :dunno:

If we wanted a veteran PF, we should go/have gone after one that actually has some game left in him. Like Joe Smith, who could have been had for the veterans' minimum.

He is a vet. But does he add toughness?

4 PPG 2 RPG for the below average Bobcats.

How is he a better option than Cunningham/Pendergraph? I could care less about his 15 years of experience, it doesn't change the fact the he supremely BLOWS at this stage of his career.

Better question: How is he a better option than Charmin Frye?

Strictly a practice player to give veteran tips to our bigs?

I don't see any other role he can be useful in.

Telling players about the dangers of herpes could be one.

Dallas Mavericks star forward Juwan Howard recently was hit with a lawsuit by a Chicago woman who alleged that he gave her herpes, reported the Chicago Sun-Times.

The 20-year-old woman, calling herself "Jane Doe," filed a suit this month. She is seeking money from the basketball star, alleging he was infected and did not let her know.

Reportedly the unidentified woman claims she had a sexual relationship with Howard from May through August. She said she didn't have sex with anyone else during that time; afterward, she noticed a rash, the suit alleges.

The last thing this team needs is a player who has been to the playoffs several times. A verteran player who can help teach some of our young players some verteran tricks. A player who can act like another coach on the bench.

It's not like that player is going to play a lot anyway?

I wonder why we haven't signed Pendergraph yet. Hopefully it's not to have Howard as our backup.

He would be a great addition. Vet whos been in the league, help the young guys. I like it.

New Michael Ruffin. I don't mind at all.

This. I am sure if we bought him in, it would be just to mentor and coach.

Apparently Juwan Howard & Stromile Swift will both audition.

http://blog.oregonlive.com/behindblazersbeat/2009/09/blazers_will_take_a_look_at_ju.html

Veterans Juwan Howard and Stromile Swift will audition for the Trail Blazers next week as the team looks to sign a backup power forward before training camp opens at the end of the month.

Howard, a 15-year veteran, played in 42 games last season (three with Denver, 39 with Charlotte) and averaged 4.1 points and 1.8 rebounds.

Swift, an 8-year veteran, played in 19 games last season (six with New Jersey, 13 with Phoenix).

Howard's always had the reputation of being a great locker room guy. For the vet minimum, it can't hurt.

I'm always in favor of cheap veteran depth ... neither swift nor Howard would be counted to do much besides fill an emergency/practice player role so I figure what the hell, it's PA's money, not mine.

Bringing in both Howard and Stromile Swift for a look next week according to behind the blazer beat.....look it up your damn self.

Speaks volumes about KP's opinion of Travis. His best possition, by far, is the 4, and KP is working out Stromile Swift???????

It speaks nothing about Travis, but rather it obviously means that Paul Allen is selling the team.

For the last time, PA is not selling the team. They've been secretly installing giant pontoons under the Rose Garden and he's going to float it up to Seattle. Season ticket holders bought a seat in the RG, but there is nothing that says that seat will be in Portland. It's the perfect evil plan! :devilwink:

I like you. You're silly.

He's a former All Star who has played with and against the very best the NBA has seen in the last 20 years. He would be a great addition to our lockerroom. A definite upgrade over Ruffin and Phrye.
