Focusing on end of the bench types that are either not under contract or non guaranteed for next season.

Eubanks
Dunn
Elleby
Hughes
McLemore
Blevins

Drop all.

If we end up with an open two way or 15th roster spot prior to training camp we could consider some of them. But at the start of free agency I wouldn't lock up any of them.

Blazers will need some cheap contracts

I'd probably keep Eubanks and Dunn. I'd certainly keep Dunn over any of the other guards

question: is Brandon Williams signed for a 2-way contract next season?

Definitely drop the last three. Yes, Elleby two way if amenable. Hard to say about Dunn.

Drop Elleby, Hughes, and McLemore

So, yeh if Williams and Elleby were on two ways, then we could sign Dunn as a third pg as long as we could still keep one spot open?

Keep Eubanks as Center #2 or #3 and some use as PF

Keep McLemore as an off-the-bench scorer (8th off the bench type of role and/or when the starters are flat)

I would keep Eubanks. (position of need)

Looks like we can waive Willams ( I think we need to choose either Dunn or Williams but not both)
Didi is under contract for another year, right? I think that means no Hughes

McLemore is the readiest for next year, so I would not mind seeing him back.

I see no room for Blevins, Elleby, or Hughes unless any of them have 2 way contracts

Dame, Hart, Simons, McLemore, Didi, and .......... either Dunn or Willams

Little, Winslow, Watford, Brown, MLE or trade, plus a draft pick

Nurk and Eubanks and (draft pick or FA)

If we are running it back with dame still in town. Keep McLemore as a shooter off the bench. Keep eubanks as our third center. He probably would be happy to stay in his hometown with a minimum contract. Keep williams on a two way. Drop others. Guys like dunn will still be available in case injuries hit again

We will have:

- 2 lottery picks
- a 21 mil TPE
- full MLE (9.6 mil)
- a 6.5 mil TPE
- BAE (3.7 mil)
- a 3.3 mil TPE

That's at least 6 players we can potentially add. None of the players we have on that list in the OP above are worth more than the minimum (except maybe Eubanks/McLemore).

So short answer, none, except maybe Eubanks/Mac depending on the rest of the roster build.

* Eubanks -> Drop. He's a 3rd C at best. We need to look for more talented players.
* Dunn -> Keep. He's useful as a 3rd PG
* Elleby -> Wait & see. He should be either the #15 roster guy or on a 2-way.
* Hughes -> Drop. Haven't seen enough positives to his game to keep him around.
* McLemore -> Drop. We need to look for more talented players.
* Blevins -> LOL.... This one is beyond obvious...

There is no other point guard on the Blazers who sees the floor on both offense and defense, is as pass first and as good at it, or who defends as well as Dunn. If backup point guards like that are so easy to get, then why can't I remember the last one we had?

Change my mind.

Same with Eubanks. Sure he'd be completely over matched against most if not all starting NBA centers. But why have our backup centers been so lousy for so long? Yes, I'd cut Eubanks loose. But not until we find someone better.

Edit: I'd still be inclined to keep him as our cheap 3rd center.

To me Elleby's strength and his weakness is that he is constantly out of control. He's a maniac. To put it another way, he plays faster than he's capable of, to sometimes comically bad effect. I would bet Chauncey keeps him for his tenacity, hustle to 50-50 balls and his crashing the boards.

Dame
Ant
Nas
Winslow
Nurk
Watford
Hart
Ingles
Keon
Brown
Didi

two way:
1. Williams
2. ?

So that’s four open spots, plus a two way. I say bring back Dunn and Eubanks. Dunn is a quintessential Billups player. That leaves two spots open for a draft pick (I don’t see us keeping the pelicans pick if we secure it) and another addition, safe bet on Grant especially if we have the pelicans pick to trade. Two way can go to Elleby or whoever. If they need to clear a spot during the season they can waive Didi.

Can someone fill me in on Hughes? Every once in a while, he looks like he should be really good. The rest of the time he's a complete zero. What's his story?

Obviously all depends on how the rest of the offseason plays out, but, I'd look to keep McLemore, always nice to have shooters off the bench, hopefully he's a 9th-11th man for us. I think I might be the only person here who likes Elleby. I'd like to bring him back. I don't expect him to have a big role, but he's scrappy, and his shooting sucks, but he does a bunch of other little things which I appreciate. Someone mentioned the speed he plays at. I feel like he'll be one of those guys who has the game slow down for him in season 3. I like Dunn as a 3rd string PG. I like Eubanks as a 3rd string, maybe 2nd string C. Was it him recently who said he likes being that guy you hate playing against? I like that in a spot minute guy. Similar to Elleby. just an annoying jerk who knows his role and is going to hustle to the point where you have to expend more energy than you want to against a team's bench.
Blevins is a definite no. Haven't seen enough of Hughes to warrant much consideration.

can we dispense with that tired loopy narrative? Dame is just fine with CJ being traded. He's not going to draw a line at Blevins
If that was the case Blevins would have been dropped a long time ago though.

McLemore, Dunn, Eubanks can all be 13,14, and 15 if we need to fill out the roster. Don't care which, depending on need etc.
