Recovery? It was an appeasement to your PM. No one for an instant was ever going to think that was your girlfriend. Didn't mean to upset you.

A personal attack can be subjective. That said, if the person receiving one feels that it is, it is. Even if others may not think so.

Leave it at that.

No Tim, I don't care how you want to spin it. I DID NOT ATTACK YOU PERSONALLY. You sent me a PM saying my post upset you so I removed it and apologized publicly. Don't try and make this into something more than what it was.

Sly, remember when you took offense to something I wrote that you thought was a slight to your father? You took it as one thing, when it was another. Explain to ABM all you wish, but you're reacting differently now that the shoe is on the other foot.

Good points. But I do think there are some key differences. In this thread I posted a joke. It was a lame joke I'll give you that. As soon as ABM told me he didn't like what I posted I removed it and apologized. In our exchange I posted that my father is an immigrant to this country and has experienced racism at times and you go on a couple of rants about how immigrants should toughen up and there was a lot of victimization going on.

Now here is where the differences kick in, you and I had a discussion. I thought what you said was kind of fucked up, it pissed me off and I told you that. You said you may have been replying to me but you weren't talking about my father and it wasn't a personal attack on him. I accept that. You didn't mean it as a personal attack and I believe you. End of discussion.

Just like you told me it wasn't a personal attack I've told ABM the same thing. He may have taken it as a personal attack but I swear to god I never intended it to be that way. But since he did I removed what I posted and apologized. But what I'm not going to do is admit that when I originally posted what I did that I was intentionally trying to personally insult him.

Why do you attack people's fathers? My father was in the military. Do you hate America? Why aren't you man enough to atack the poster personally instead of his father? Why don't you pick on someone your own size, like our mothers? Do you hate men? Why are you so aggressive? Can't you control it? Just because you're in a bad mood, leave us out of it. You're offended? I'm offended that you're offended. I wasn't mad until you accused me of being mad. Now I'm mad. Are you calling me a creampuff? Is that your hidden meaning? maxie, Sly and I had a misunderstanding. I readily admit, I was already on edge that evening over a completely non-related matter. Anyway, Sly handled the situation with me about as good as could have been expected that evening. OK, sure, even though he can sometimes display seemingly jerkish behavior (but, HEY, don't we all at times?!), I think, ultimately, he means no harm towards anyone in here..........at least, as far as I know of. ;)

As far as I'm concerned, my little tête-à-tête with Sly has been put to rest.
 
Reading this thread, I think we can all agree that there is no danger of Portland losing its weirdness.
