The Blazers are currently slotted at the #10 Lottery and within 2 games of #7.

Draft gurus, it might be time to start doing some scouting. This roster not only needs a talent influx, but it needs to also start thinking about the next generation that might join Ant and Nas.

Also, a quality player from the Draft will be on a much less expensive contract which this roster also needs. There are a number of SF's and PF's in the 7-12 range including one named Nikola Jovic. Could lightning strike twice?

Portland goes on a late run, makes the play-in, manages to grab 8th seed, gets swept in the first round, and then gives up the 15th pick in the draft.

that would be the worst case scenario....does anybody doubt the Blazers will find a way to do all that?

That sounds pretty realistic and Blazers like

LOL, perhaps. Dame's health remains a huge Q and key. Just how serious/perhaps chronic this ab injury is has significant impact on how long he might be out and frankly his trade value. We are really in the dark about this so its pure guessing/speculation. And its hard to make huge, perhaps multi year critical franchise decisions without having a better read on Dame's status.

I think if the new GM is thinking about picks (Cronin or his successor) we need to move Dame and start a rebuild with young players and picks but not all picks, you have to get some proven talent for Dame and the rest. You auction off everyone on this team with any value besides Ant and Nas.

If we're still going to try and keep Dame and win with him then we need to take the protection off of the 2022 pick so we can trade future picks along with CJ, Nurk and RoCo to upgrade this roster with pieces that fit abound Dame.

Good effort, but with the loss, the Blazers are currently at the #8 spot in the Draft Lottery. Wasn't it just last year they were within 1/2 game of the #5 pick? The #6 pick ended up being Josh Giddey who is averaging around 11/7/6/1 in 30 minutes. Not shooting great, but I'd happily take those numbers from a rookie.

If you're keeping Dame at 50+ mil/year, then I think you trade Nas and/or Ant.
Same thing in reverse.

Aside from Chet & Co in the top-3 here is my early favorite if we’re in the lotto:

Followed closely by Jaden Hardy.

Depends are they going to continue to draft guys on potential? or draft someone who can contribute right away. If they are going to take flyers on potential and guys who won't contribute for several seasons, then trade the pick.

I wonder what part of Dame's history of picking the team up the second half of the season and willing the Blazers into the playoffs some of you have missed that you're thinking the Blazers' pick is going to be in the lottery?

He’s an elite perimeter defender

okay. Not bad. But i still tbink a 6’10 pf is more of a need. Especially once we trade cj for simmons. ;)

Dame/smithjr( really liking him as a backup)
Powell/ant
Simmons/nas
Paulo/nance jr
Nurk/ zeller

trade our current pick and whatever other picks it takes to move up to number 2-3 and snag paulo

My dream scenario.
Cj/roco future first for Simmons

this years pick plus whatever else it takes( two more future firsts?) to move up to number 2-3 in the draft and land Paulo.
Is this even slightly realistic?

or am i just completely out of my mind?

i think that lineup would be a contender providing Paulo works out.

Banchero is either going to be the #1 or #2 pick in the draft. So there's very close to a zero chance that Portland gets him.

tank the shit out of the season. Get a top five and trade up to number two?

pull a gsw from last year
Or san antonio when they got duncan?

If it happens, it happens. But the players aren't going to purposely play worse or agree to sit out with phantom injuries and Billups isn't going to purposely tank his first year as a coach. Unless there are legitimate major injuries (which is not a thing to hope for, obviously), I think this team is too good to finish in the bottom five (and even if they did, there's a not-insignificant chance that they still end up with a pick outside the top five in the lottery).

why you have to be so spot on???

Why not just ask your friend, who is apparently never wrong, but his picks are only known after the fact?

That couldn't be more wrong. #FakeNews

Any who ever said he was never wrong? I've chronicled his picks....and misses. He has just been very good most of the time.
