1 game back from the #4 Lottery slot. That would be much more exciting than anything that has happened in the last couple of seasons. The energy it would inject into your franchise would be much needed.
#4 slot can get you the 8th pick which would be a gut punch. Plus, getting a top pick and blowing it. Again.

I can't believe we are 1 game back to Sacramento and that we have same amount of wins with Pelicans. Just one more win compared to OKC as well. This is shocking.

It is shocking, but it is what it is. Take advantage of it instead of the annualized crawl to mediocrity just to eventually get drilled in the Playoffs.

Blazers wrap a #SilverLining around New Years Eve moving into a tie for the #4 Lottery pick. Best thing that could happen in this cluster of a season where the talent is poor and the effort is worse.

We lose (win) the tiebreaker right now which puts us alone at #4 which gives us the best odds possible for #1 pick.

Root to lose?

Fuck off.

Rooting to win long term in a more meaningful manner. Some may be okay with the mediocrity that has largely existed for most of the past decade, but if some have higher goals, that doesn't seem like a bad thing. That is not going to be remedied by an every older version of Dame with another scoring, short, no-D sidekick while the rest of the team is left to play defense, cover for them, and get very few looks. If that is your version of good basketball which miraculously might get better someday, well......we will have to agree to disagree.

I want this team to actually have a path to get better. Not being the definition of insanity by doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.

Would you rather lose at winning or win at losing?

Don't be a loser--at least be successful at what you're best at.

Agree with most of what you’re saying but that’s not the definition of insanity. I have mental illness. That is not the definition. Also in my life, I’ve done things over and over and gotten different results. Blazers too. Three 50 win seasons in the last 8 years.

For goodness sake Eric, you know the age-old adage. #BiggerPicture

The age old adage is wrong and offensive to me.

Really sorry I didn't take each person's individual journey into account when making a general comment about the team, using an oft-used, age old adage. Sorry for what you've gone through, but it had NOTHING to do with you. That may come across as offensive as well, but honestly, you know it had nothing to do with you so not sure why you are offended by something that had zero to do with your situation.

Not only that but it’s the most viable path for a small market like Portland to attain a championship. Finding franchise cornerstones through high picks.

The caveat is that the powers that be don’t fuck up on their picks.

Agreed. We should be paying the top executives more than every one else, and building a culture for finding and developing talent.

Banchero looks special too, it’s like Melo with defense. Any one of him, Jabari, and Chet, and we’ve got a game changer. There are other interesting prospects (especially Nikola Jović) but I haven’t really dug deep enough yet.

I’ve watched a lot of Banchero and he’s nothing like Melo. More like Antonio McDyess.

A throwback, prototypical 4

McDyess didn’t space the court. Banchero is a great free throw shooter who’s gonna be able to score from anywhere at his peak.

San Antonio did the Blazers no Lottery favors by losing to the horrible Pistons. Come on Spurs!

He's already shooting 33% from three and his shot looks good. He might not be a pull up three point shooter during his NBA career but I think he'll be able to stretch the floor from the corners at the very least, which would make his defender close out on him and give him more chances to use his excellent athleticism to get by them and take it to the hoop.

watched some paolo highlights.

goddamn this dude is talented and so fluid while being physically imposing.

this is mike beasley 2.0. if he's gotta better head on his shoulders, this should be our guy. (for those who laugh at this comp, go look at what beas was doing at kansas state).

pelicans, Okc, Spurs, and pacers passed us in lottery odds. went from 12.5% chance at #1 to 6.7%
