Does he really suck, or is it the system?
His numbers looked pretty good in Boston, so would you trade #10 and Matthews for Perkins PJ III and Lamb? Would they? Would they do it for Leonard instead of matthews.....Would we?

Pretty interesting... I don't know too much about Lamb, but from what I remembered hearing, he was a damn good SG prospect. I suppose bringing in Matthews would be a huge upgrade to OKC's starting core.

Perkins isn't as bad as many think. I think scoring is the issue, but he is still one of the better one on one defenders, plus he does protect the paint. The biggest advantage of Perk is his intimidation factor. He would rather send someone to the floor before they make a lay-up. Think of Buck williams in this regard.

It is not the system. He was fine in OKC the first year even thought the raw numbers were down. However the last year has been horrible, he is out of positing, not rotating well, just getting beat everywhere. Something physically or age is catching up to him. He has been atrocious. If we did that trade it would be more for the other guys.

I wouldn't do the deal though. We can bid on Perkins soon. I have a feeling he is getting amnestied.

I like the concept. I like Matthews better than some here, but that trade (if you keep Leonard) gives you a solid physical center now, with time for Leonard to develop, and gives you a couple of nice scoring and defensive options to spread around. Lots of length if you add PJIII and Lamb.

The biggest concern would be that the change might not get you enough to keep Aldridge interested now. You would have to combine that with a solid vet FA.

Giving up Matthews and a pick for someone who could very well be an amnesty candidate sees like a very big overpay to me. They'd need to pay to dump Perkins for pure cap space, IMO. Perkins and maybe 1 of PJ3/Lamb/#12 for Freeland seems like about what I'd do. But I'm not giving a lotto pick and a solid SG for it.

Agreed.

this is a horrible idea, perkins is likely going to be amnestied and bid on for a million or so

so basically mathews and #10 for the pleasure of perkins for 16 million over the next two years? yuck

Fuck No! Dumbest trade idea EVER. Seriously, I'd rather have Thabeet back. Seriously. Look at their advanced stats, Thabeet is actually better than Perkins. When Hasheem Thabeet is making you look bad by comparison, it's time to consider retirement.

I'd have a hard time taking Perkins for free (AFTER he's amnestied), and wouldn't even give up one of our second round picks for him, let alone the 10th pick - not with his salary and complete lack of production.

Well said, BNM! Clearly one of the worst "trade ideas" I've read on this board in quite some time. Just curious, but when was the last time you watched Perkins play, MM?

I would maybe put a bid in for him if he is amnestied, but that could still cut into Leonard's playing time and development if he was the back up to the real starting center they will (hopefully) get.

And i have seen people on Realgm wanting to trade the pick and i think Leonard for Kostas Koufos, so there are plenty of dumb trades out there.

Yesterday.

So #10 and Matthews for Perkins, Lamb and PJ III is the dumbest trade idea ever? I think maybe some of you are overreacting, but maybe not?

Maybe not the dumbest ever. But definitely dumb. And I mean that in the nicest possible way. :)

Well, considering I wouldn't trade a bag of flaming shit for Perkins, that trade essentially boils down to trading #10 & Matthews for Lamb & PJIII.

I know you have quite the hard-on for Lamb, but come on... !

Perkins - over the hill

Lamb - dumb as rocks (btw that's an insult to rocks!)

PJ III - young project player

MM, that trade would absolute crush our team.

Talent-wise it's not the worst. I, like you, think Lamb might turn out to be pretty good. I think the bigger downside is Perkins' contract? I have to admit Perkins is a player I have really disliked, but if he were amnestied and he wanted to come here cheaply, I'm not opposed.

Just wait until he is amnestied and bid 2-3 million per year on him

Perk has been god awful this yr, he is a stiff - get back on your meds pronto amigo!

As others have said- no reason to bid high on him if an amnesty is in his future.

Seems like injuries really slowed him down into a plodding stiff. He was always kinda stiff, but also a commodity in that Boston needed him because their championship roads always ran through Dwight in Orlando and Bynum in LA (and maybe the tail end of Shaq in Miami too). Hes not totally useless, but hes become increasingly irrelevant as the league has continued to get smaller and faster.

If you can't be a positive addition to a team with Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook, I'm not sure how you'd expect him to be one with the makeup of this team.

He's a mediocre move (no pun intended).

HELL NO. He sucks ass. Still can't understand why he plays as much as he does.

Mediocre Man, are you OK? The Lynyrd isn't sitting with teammates thread was odd enough, but you've been on a posting rampage today, and with just terrible, terrible ideas.

Well there's an understatement. It's probably the dumbest idea I've read on this board all season, and I'm baffled as to why someone would start a thread about it.

I was posting what someone else had tweeted. Literally nothing else.

This gets us a defensive center and two highly touted college players for a one dimentional player and a pick in a so called weak draft

Why would anyone pay Kendrick Perkins ~$9.3m/year for the next few years. As already posted, OKC will likely just amnesty him, anyhow.
