That we won't be able to afford him?
Media that writes a big story that is full of incorrect statements drives me crazy.

The Blazers are NOT in the repeater tax this year.

Whiteside can sign for any amount and we'd still have the MLE.

In addition the Blazers could use the Full MLE and aren't just stuck trying to sign 3 players with the Tax MLE.

Your video should be used as media training.

I wonder if he meant the Blazers were only willing to pay him the MLE or something? Because I don't see how someone who has written in sports media for 30+ years can forget that the concept of "bird rights".

Nah, most media people don't take the time to learn about the cap. Kerry's whole opinion is based on misinformation. Heck, Jason Quick didn't even know if the Skal trade got us out of the tax or not. It would've taken like 3 minutes to look up the numbers and do a simple calculation.

A bunch of writers are doing a mock off season and most of them have no clue how the CBA works. I get someone like Eggers who covers sports in general but there's no excuse for people who cover the NBA full time to not read up on the rules of the league.

Right, the luxury tax is estimated to be at $139 million next season, about two thirds of a million over the Blazers current salary which will go down. Hassan will be paid far less, somewhere akin to Nurkic, Carmelo will be cheap, Swanigan will be gone probably, Wenyen will be cheap, and Pau is off the books. Blazers are probably looking at $127 -130 million on the books next season, $8-11 million off this seasons team salary and $9-12 million below the luxary tax, meaning the Blazers won't be repeaters.

Speaking of mock off seasons, whatever happened to the one that you started? Seems it would have been fun for you guys to play a mock season during all this idle time.

That would be fun

Well, it's yet to be determined exactly where the cap numbers will fall as it was projected to be slightly lower due to the China snafu with Morey and now with the covid 19 and revenues being way down it's hard to say how far down those go

Just for you, I've created a squarespace account to comment on his article to point out these issues.

This is not the time or place for you to bring up your radical environmental beliefs.
