Kevin Duckworth, a two-time NBA All-Star who spent the majority of his 12 NBA seasons as the Portland Trail Blazers' center, has died. He was 44.

Duckworth died Monday in Kernville, Ore., near the coastal town of Lincoln City. His death was confirmed by the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office. Duckworth was in town as part of a Trail Blazers group hosting a free kids basketball clinic, Fox 12 reported on its Web site.

The cause of his death was not released Tuesday morning.

The 7-foot Duckworth started at center when the Trail Blazers won Western Conference titles in 1990 and '92. He played in the NBA All-Star Game in 1989 and '91.

He spent 1986-93 with Portland and also played for Washington, Milwaukee and the Los Angeles Clippers.

Duckworth's last season in the league, 1996-97, was spent with the Clippers. He played his college basketball at Eastern Illinois. A second-round draft pick of the San Antonio Spurs in 1986, Duckworth was named the NBA's Most Improved Player in his second year in the league.

I'm going to guess heart attack.
It's a shame to hear about this. He was a solid center during his days and had the quirky set shot that worked rather well. He was a biiiig center.
I enjoyed watching the blazers during the early 90's with buck williams, Dexler, Porter, Jerome Kersey and the Duck.

yeah saw this last night on ESPN....R.I.P Kevin Duckworth....

EDIT

I enjoyed watching the blazers during the early 90's with buck williams, Dexler, Porter, Jerome Kersey and the Duck.

imo, one of the best teams to never win a title in NBA history (kinda like the Bills of the NFL)....unfortunately they ran into two of the greatest teams of all time in the Finals, in Detroit and Chicago.

I was mad off and on at Duck for being out of shape back in the day. I could never figure out why he wasn't always in top shape.

NOW at the age of 34, with a career that is by no means pro sports but still quite a physical job I understand.

I am 6'2" tall and weigh about 400 lbs. I have yo yo'd up and down for the last five years. I had just started to diet two days before Duck passed.

My job is almost infinitely easier when I am in better shape yet sometimes I just lose control of the fork.

Duck is my inspiration right now and I wish he was still around but maybe hopefully some other people besides myself will learn from his passing at such a young age.

It has been a couple of weeks or so and I feel like a new person. RIP Duck

Good luck, man. It's not easy to change your lifestyle even when you know you have to.

I may be in the top five percent of 400lb men as far as fitness, but that doesn't deserve a medal. Thanks for the encouragement.

RIP Duck
