I think its okay to have a dull effect as long as you have something that stands out, there nothing really stands out, its comletely dull which is what makes it seem badnice work though im not saying its completely bad

To break out of your slump what you need to do is add more depth to your backgrounds. For example try adding some textures in the bg to give the sig that flare that it needs. Maybe try something like a fireball texture in your next sig if its like this one or just add it to this.
