Zombie Kevin Love?

I could see Boston trading Hayward for Love....he's too expensive for us ….Melo any team could dump the 15th player on the bench for about now.
Ya we don't want all star players in Portland just rookies we can develop.

There is no one player to put us over the top. Not a player that could be had while keeping Dame, CJ and Nurk. That said, this group won't get past the first round (maybe not even make the playoffs) so do we live with mediocrity? Is it not worth trying to make a move by unloading Leonard, Harkless and yes, even Collins, if necessary? If I were the GM I would seriously be looking at what the Celtics would give me for Dame. Build a team around Nurk and Collins and the young guys, draft for a wing with a Boston pick (Sacramento or Memphis) and mix a new cake.

This cake - has baked and baked and baked and won't be getting us to round 2. And when we don't even make the playoffs - - Dame will ask to be traded and we will have missed our opportunity for a great windfall.

While I agree with you in principle, I fail to see how Love is the answer.

Kevin Love isn't eligible to be traded until January 24th.

That is still a month and a half away and only 2 weeks before the trade deadline. That makes for a very small window when he'd be able to be moved this season.

I love how much I’m against Kevin love as a Blazer.

Of course we want all star players in Portland. And we want to get them for peanuts.

But this conversation is about an over the hill, injury prone player with an Albatross contract.

Love spend half the season being injured. So if not playing due he in Street close all time how that helping us. To injured prone I say no.

The Celtics have a point guard. His name is Kyrie Irving.

And that's why we will never land one.

Kevin Love sucks and even when he doesn't suck - he gets injured.
Maybe Harkless and Meyers for him is ok i guess... wouldnt even throw a pick or Aminu for him.

Blake would probably bring the impact we need, but his contract is a bit suicidal.

You don't have to give up a "good piece" for a 30 year old PF who, on his own, hasn't lead his team ANYWHERE, and is still owed 120 million.
Have to be drunk to trade an up and coming star at center who is only 23, for an aging, always hurt PF. Get real! Now I like K Love, but only for the right price. Hark, Meyers, a 1st OK.

Yeah, his injury history is bad and now he's 30 and will be paid about 30 mil per yr for 4 yrs AFTER this season - NO F'in way

Especially when he's 21.

Ok. This cake has baked. If that is the case, why would you want to bring in someone who is essentially the leftover crumbs of an old cake at that kind of price. Would he help in some ways? Yes. Is he going to make a significant difference? Perhaps on court but definitely in the salary flexibility (or lack thereof).

If this cake has baked and we're looking to make a new cake, let's not start with yesterday's leftovers please.

And our mediocrity is way too little!

I have no reason to think Collins will be an All-Star - he’s not even a starter on our team!

This could very well be a win-now move because the Warriors aren’t exactly clicking, the Rockets aren’t a championship team and with the addition of an all star power forward - we might be able to pull something off.

We certainly won’t with the team we have currently.
Oh, the 2nd year kid who just turned 21 isnt a starter yet, so we should trade him?... no.

If I was pressed Id say Zachs upside is a good starter, who may be a really special defender. I dont think hes all star material. Im definitely not saying trade him, but if the deal was right I dont think Zach is so good that he should be 100% off the table either.

Zach's upside is higher than how good Lobe is now. All-Star games don't reward players like Zach and Nurk (ya know, players that defend).

I think for bigs it plays a decent role. Look at guys who got in last year Al Horford, Draymond Green, Kristaps, Anthony Davis, Giannis, sure theres a few who dont play defense well, like LMA (he’s gotten better on D though), KAT, Cousins. They are all supremely talented scorers though.
Love right now is injured, and we havent really seen him in a non lebron oriented scheme in a while. Love like Bosh before him had to sacrifice a lot of his game to fit in with Lebron.

Zachs got potential, but is he going to even be close to ready by the time his rookie contract is up? Zach still looks like he’s a year or two from taking off, if he does take off.
