I usually enjoy reading this guy but this time he's delusional. He thinks the Rockets could get Aldridge for Tevor Ariza, Pablo Prigioni and DMo or Terrance Jones. Ariza is getting old and is overpaid. Not to mention he ruined Brandon Roy and Rudy Fernandez careers with injuries. Pablo is what 37? Those other guys form one of the weakest PF rotations in the league. No thanks. The Blazers would rather let LMA walk than take back that junk, in my opinion.

Plus the whole idea of helping the Rockets, who we hated playing in the playoffs, and have no respect for, is ridiculous in its own right. There's a reason star trades are done out of conference.

DMo is Barfnani with a post game.

Terrence Jones clearly isn't a starter on a good team.

Pelton is on the dope.

I wonder if that can get them Kevin Love?

This must be a joke, there's no one on Houston I would want outside of the obvious two for LMA.

I don't see anything that really is insane about this article. Pelton says the obvious and then puts together a package that is a lowball offer but one of those "take it or leave it offers" and Morry is famous for overvaluing his players and sending ridiculous trade offers to other teams. The Rockets are damn well going to go after LA as well as every other team that thinks they have a glimmer of hope of getting him. Lots more of these articles will come out soon, next one I bet is LA to the Lakers for Jordan hill, Nick Young, some other horrible player.

Kevin Pelton is one of many puddinghead drama sports writers trying to make the news rather than actually reporting the news. And his record on draft predictions sucks.

That's what I was thinking. All of these offers are assuming lma is leaving and in that case I don't know how much better an offer you will get. I've seen people saying lma for Dwight and while it might be a fair trade as far as talent goes, it is completely unrealistic. What would you guys hope to get in a sign and trade? And if the options were this or lma walks, would you take it? At least d-mo and ariza are talented and this trade does address the needs of your team.

Can we at least wait till the FA period before this kind of shit starts?

You do know there's a difference between a reporter and a columnist, yes?

The trade as proposed does not work under the CBA.

LMA is going to be making around $20.5M next year. For Houston to take LMA, they would have to send out around $15.4M in salaries. Ariza will make $8.1M, Pablo $1.7M & Jones or Motijunas $2.4M for a total of $12.2M. Houston would have to include Papanikolaou and his $4.6M salary just for this to be feasible.

Out of all the Houston players, the one I would like to get to Portland is Capela....

I HATE Houston right now. There is no way I would trade LMA there just for spite.

If we are going to S&T LMA, I wouldn't mind doing so with SA.
LMA for Splitter, Kyle Anderson, and a 2016 pick wouldn't be bad...

If a max player signed on, Houston could put together a package of Ariza, Jones or Motiejunas, Prigioni and a free agent or two signed to a new contract

He mentions adding a player from Houston in S&T as well. Not that it makes the package one I'd like, personally.

I'd hope to get a piece that could maybe turn into one above average starter. None of those scraps from Houston would do that. Better to let LMA walk and use the cap space for trades or free agents. Maybe another team gives a better sign and trade offer or LMA ultimately decides to stay. Houston doesn't have the cap space to sign him so there's no reason to trade him there. If he came to a verbal agreement to sign with say the Spurs then sure you consider taking less than fair value. But Houston won't have that opportunity.

You do know there's a difference between a reporter and a columnist, yes?

A reporter is responsible for accurately and objectively reporting events. The columnist takes accurate reports one step further and interprets them.

When a columnist writes an article that is based on rumors and not on known verifiable facts, such is the case in Pelton's article. He is no longer a columnist or a reporter, he becomes nothing more than a tabloid drama writer specializing in sports. .

The problem with Houston right now is that for the most part their PG is Harden. He sets everything up. I doubt LMA would like that.

Although I must admit as much as I dislike the triangle offense, if there ever was a player that Phil could again work his magic with, it would be with Harden at the Kobe/MJ role. (More so than Melo) Harden is not as good as Kobe or MJ, but I think he would thrive in it with LMA and one other wing.

He takes information and gives his opinion on them. So he is writing about the Rockets off season, and then giving his opinion on potential directions they might choose to go. He's not making up rumors. He is giving an opinion. It's not his responsibility as a columnist to stick to facts of their off season. Who was signed who was traded. He is given leeway to speculate on what they may or may not do or try to do.

What offense wouldn't work well with Harden and LMA?

Hardens versatility oddly makes finding a PG to play with him very difficult. He must be able to play off the ball; hit open threes and defend other teams PG. While better this year Hardens still a bad defender. He needs some help with ball handling and setting up an offense but you don't want a pair of players with too much of those overlapping skills. We had similar problems finding a backcourt pair with Roy.

What do you expect to get back for a player that is leaving? Of course this scenario only works if LMA says he wants to go explicitly to Houston, otherwise he can just sign wherever he wants. In that situation where you feel like you either trade him to Houston or lose him for nothing, getting Dmo back would be a steal.

Motiejunas is 24 and consider that Howard was out for most of the season (and that the Rockets were 2nd in the west) so who else was producing for the team? It was Motiejunas. He's a 7 footer with a silky smooth post games (hit the most hooks in the NBA) with an abundance of low post moves and a 3 point shot. He also plays defense and again is 24. People usually ask why didn't the Rockets get a PG at the deadline and the reason is that teams wanted Motiejunas and the Rockets were not trading him. I really think the only thing they would trade him for is an all-star caliber player because I believe if you give Motiejunas the shots and the PT that he would simply produce and could be a player that gets about 18-7. He's like a more finesse David West but with a deeper range.

I would do a sign and trade with Houston if LA wanted out. DM is a nice young piece, add in someone like Beverly in a sign and trade, and Ariza and that is a healthy return for adding a fifth year to the deal and taking back some salary.
