t's been teased by me all night...but finally...here we are. My source gave the go ahead to share what I've been told.

This is a person I trust, and they work for one of the organizations (Blazers or Wolves). And not just a sales rep or anything. I'm talking about ACCESS here.

1) Olshey and Kahn have been on the phone frequently the past several days. There has been "lots of yelling, cursing, and anger" over the phone between the two. Olshey also mocked Kahn for the Budinger trade. Olshey sounds like a dick (that's my personal note).

2) It appears is if Kahn tried offering Chase Budinger for Batum (which might be where the mocking came from). Olshey won't have that. He wants more....IE Derrick Williams + maybe more. Not sure what exactly, but the bottom line is if you want Batum, Willams is assuredly going to have to be out. That's good news for people who don't like D-Will. Portland has interest in him.

3) Lastly...this is the most intriguing to me. No one in the Portland organization likes Batum. Trainers, strength coaches, operations, coaches, etc. No one. They all dislike the guy, and he dislikes them.

LaMarcus Aldridge literally said, "he wanted to puke" when he heard they were matching the offer for Batum.

(This last paragraph is my opinion): So essentially, this is really just a game of chicken between Kahn and Olshey to see who will cave first. I'm guessing the Wolves will overpay to make sure they get Batum here, even though the Blazers ultimately want him gone from what's being said. The Blazers have done a good bluffing job here.

What is KFAN? And who is speaking here?

I have a tough time believing no one likes the soft spoken frenchmen.

Yes, that's damn near impossible to believe.

HCP, do you hate Nic? Because if it is as widespread as they say, then you'd hate him too.

barfo

So we are supposed to believe a random person on the Minny radio station, who probably didn't even know much about Batum until Minny started targeting him, that pretty much everything we have heard about Batum over the last 4 years is a lie?
I'm gonna chalk everything up to a huge lie or exaggeration except for the Olshey mocking Khan part.

You're crazy, Nic is my boy! I'm biased about him on the court, because we are cool, I'll admit. But I have never seen or heard anybody say anything bad about him. He is quiet and I do know he was close with Patty and Rudy, but I have never seen or heard a thing that would make me think he is not in tight with his teammates.

I heard Paul Allen is going to buy France and have Batum deported.

I don't care if 99% of that is garbage...as long as the 1% pertaining to D-Will for Batum is true....

POR should do that deal....

Sounds like propaganda to me. If Batum was disliked this much, the S&T would have been done by now.

Sure ... maybe? The only problem is the Wolves were never offering him.

MN's beatwriter chimes in:

Chris Jordan ‏@Yeti2308
@JerryZgoda @PHansenDUB Rumor has it everyone, I mean everyone on Blazers hates! Batum. Trainers, coaches, players. Everyone.

Jerry Zgoda ‏@JerryZgoda
@Yeti2308 @phansendub that's why you don't believe rumors>>>>>>>>>>>

so apparently he has signed the offer sheet, but minny hasnt turned it into the office yet? LOL

It's even better, he signed it and the league ruled it invalid because they didn't have the capspace. So he has to do it again on Sunday. Kahn is Kahn'ing his own free agent targets.

inKahnceivable!

I think if this were true our own media guys would have been giddy to share it long before now.

Urban Dictionary with a nice burn of Rubechat/Kfan:

-Absolutely pointless "networking tool" that Minnesota sports fan overuse in an attempt to gain and then flaunt popularity.

-It does serve as a purposeful tool for anyone who is feeling they are not as smart as the people they hang out with in real life. Just a few minutes on Rube Chat and you'll find yourself thinking that you just might be one of the smartest people in the world.

-A large collection of awkward, unsophisticated sports fans.

Speaking of dislike for one another, Woj had this gem a few years ago:

Privately, Adelman didn’t disguise his disdain for Kahn. They go back to Adelman’s glory days coaching the Portland Trail Blazers in the late 1980s and 1990s, when Kahn was covering the NBA beat as a sportswriter for the Oregonian. The idea that a bad sportswriter had turned into a brutal NBA executive troubled him, sources said. He couldn’t stand him then, and had no intention of resurrecting a working relationship with the man.

Yes, this happened because Adelman finally found a way to justify the possibilities against the biggest drawback of the job: walking into the office and getting a daily dose of Kahn’s empty thoughts on basketball, his embarrassing management style. No, Adelman doesn’t come unless Taylor made a strong pitch of autonomy for the coach, unless Taylor paid Adelman like few small-market owners pay coaches in the NBA anymore.

Adelman knows he can outlast Kahn on the job, and probably pick his successor – Adelman himself, or someone else – once Taylor finally runs the GM out. There were times this summer, sources say, when Kahn was paranoid over the possibility of Taylor conducting a clandestine search for a new GM, but it never happened.
