if you live in Portland.

During stuff like this I switch from cable to an indoor TV antenna. The picture quality is much better.

Thanks for the info. I might have to check it out.

I just use an old indoor antenna. Nothing special. I think most cable and satellite HD broadcast in 480p. Not even the full 720p. For big events like Blazer games and super bowl I'll switch to the antenna.

Bumped!

Most newer HDTV's have more then one coax signal input in the back so you just switch the single input with the remote. The over the air single is a higher resolution then what you get over cable or the sats.

Is the antenna feed in sync with the regular/cable feed?
I'm lazy and dont want to have to mess with my stereo system.

Mine doesn't :(

This could mean your TV is "HD-Ready" which I thought they stopped doing a couple years ago. Another thing you could check for is an antenna coax input on your cable box. This would allow you to plug in an antenna and get the local HD stations to show up in your guide (this is how it worked with the directv box anyway). It's worth the effort if you don't have HD access through your cable/sat provider.
