<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Yahoo Sports)</div><div class='quotemain'><u>Europe offers more than vacation to NBA players</u>
“In the next four or five years, could I end up playing over there?” Kidd wondered. “Hey, why wouldn’t I play in Italy or somewhere (else)? That might be a great experience.

“It’s a legitimate option now with Childress going over there.”

As he prepares for the Beijing Olympics with Team USA, Kidd is under contract with Dallas through next season. He has his eyes on an extension past 2008-09, but who knows anymore?

“Why not?” Kidd said. “We saw the Euro players coming here, and now it’s kind of flip-flopping.”</div>

Wasn't Marbury supposed to go over next year?

Maybe Kidd can go over too and go compete against each other.

Wow. That just seems pretty low for someone who's supposed to be a Hall of Famer.

I thought he wanted a championship..?

Like Beckham, except Beckham is great. Right?

i think beckham always wanted that "hollywood lifestyle" for his wife... haha ... and he got 250 million dollars for 5 years... u kidding me?

id live anywhere if i got that...

Go to Europe is a good chance for Kidd, but i think Mavs don’t like Kidd do that。

He did say "four or five" years. It's not a big deal.

Well Kidd is probably talking after his NBA contract finishes up, if a European club offers him Josh Childress money like a multi year contract at 6-7 mill. He won't just leave the Mavs while under contract though. (He is making like 20 mill per year)

But year Kidd was talking like 4 years from now.

i'm sure kidd's ex wife took him to the cleaners, so he has to look for his retirement money. Best of luck to him he's earned it

If Kidd plays in Europe, it will be for an NBA team. Not Euroleague.

Really? You're not rooting for China to win it all?

Why is it low?

at the rate the us economy and the $us is going the euroleague will one day buy the nba...

in that article, wade mentioned thinking about europe too.
it's just a matter of time folks, things are a changing.

Thank you
I'm saying by the time he would even seriously comprehend playing overseas, the NBA will have already expanded into Europe.

Stern knows that that the Childress situation will be a precursor to the future. Right now, with the way NBA finances are structured, players can make a LOT more money in Europe than here (especially taking the Euro/USD into account).

You think the NBA will have a European league in 4 years? There hasn't even been much speculation or rumours on such a thing.

Not if oil keeps rising as it is

It would be a stupid move for Kidd to do that. I love Europe (thats where I'm from) but Kidd needs to retire after his NBA career is over.

Don't become another Favre.

If the NBA ever does expand to Europe (which would be a logistical nightmare) there will not be a financial difference. There will still be a salary cap based in us dollars to keep an even playing field. The only other option would be if the NBA created a completely separate Euro league but Stern wouldn't do that becuase it would just dilute the player pool too much in both leagues. It's one thing for a few players to go there but is another for a whole league of NBA quality players to go.
