http://nbadraft.net/2008stateofthecapnewjersey001.asp
"As I said before, New Jersey obtained some expiring contracts for Kidd which will save them about $6.4 million this summer. If you include the expiring deals of Jamaal Magloire and Bostjan Nachbar, it adds up to nearly $13 million in savings. The Nets will need that cap space if they expect to add some free-agent talent this summer."
thats were i got it...
2008/09 Estimated NBA Salary Cap: $58 million (estimate)
Roughly: $6.3 million under cap
hmm maybe i read it wrong hahah nevermind...
its 13 mill in savings hehe well 6.3mill is still solid... add a traded RJ thats almost 18 million in cap space
BRAND!!!! its doable!</div>
i see, that makes sense. I was looking at that too, but for that we'd have to move RJ for pretty much nothing, to a team far enough under the cap. Charlotte is the only one who might be willing to do that. If we could get RJ for #9, that'd be pretty awesome. But a more realistic thing I think would be RJ for Childress, Atlanta is about as far under the cap as us, so with Chillz contract, its about right. Saves us about 6M. Then move Ager and Marcus for future picks or something. we get to like 15M cap space. So unless Brand takes a first year paycut, we'd have to do something else, involving other guys. I doubt unless we involve a pick we could move Hassell to save money. If all goes according to plan, we move RJ for Chillz, Ager for a future 2nd, Marcus for a future first, 21+Hassell for nothing. Sign Brand, take Danilo at 10, use the MLE on a few different guys. We'd have to probably dump Boki, Nenad, and Diop for nothing.
Harris/Armstrong
Carter/MLE
Childress/Gallinari
Brand/Swift
Boone/Williams
awesome. and if that sounded different from nonsensical rambling to anyone else, even better.
