I bet you wont be the only oneReady to drive down to the Moda and burn my Aldridge jersey tomorrow
might as well set a time, pile them all up and make a bonfire out of itI bet you wont be the only one
Bring some hot dogs and smores suppliesmight as well set a time, pile them all up and make a bonfire out of it
I wont, but I know others will and I honestly couldn't blame them. If you're gonna leave, you don't say shit like "i wanna be the best blazer ever", lead us on and convince us he is down for a 5 year contract and then bounces when it's offered. You guys are really gonna burn your jersey if he takes a paycut to win in SA?
Fuck yeah I will. The dude lied to us last offseason about resigning, then handled this process like an ass, then he quits to try to piggyback his way to a title on Tim Duncan's fat (ya know). You guys are really gonna burn your jersey if he takes a paycut to try and win in SA?

Just don't video tape itI thought I would only if he signed with LA, but.....I'm kind of feeling I will end up burning it anyway if he left. Just the natural reaction. I live a mile from bonfire pits so it's pretty easy for me.
I can't believe he would want to give up being the best blazer ever. It'll be disgusting seeing him in historical records if he did leave.
Just don't video tape it
With Still by Geto Boys playing in the backgroundI'm posting it everywhere.

grow up huh? What ever should I do with the damn jersey bro? Keep that shit and be reminded? NahhhLove the optimism Wook....but even you must concede that interview did not look at all good. It wasn't just the Hughes statements, to me clearly Leonard's comments suggested he expected a significant increase in minutes this year.
The timing of the interview is the worst part of this for me. If it was already decided before free agency let Portland know.
Burning jerseys? Grow up. You don't know he lied last season, maybe that was his view at that point in time. We all change our minds sometimes over the course of a year. Perhaps he saw how fragile the team was with the loss of Matthews and thought it wasn't going to result in a ring. He was right.
And put yourself in his shoes. He is getting older every year, and his career ambition is to win rings. Tell me you wouldn't seriously considering changing employers if you were offered what you considered to be a) a better opportunity to better your career b) a job closer to family (some of whom may be unwell) c) in an area where you have grew up and have a better connection with. Tell me honestly you wouldn't consider that in your profession.
Don't get me wrong, as a fan, i'm very disappointed in the way things (appear to have) panned out. But this is a business. Do the best you can and move on. Play the next guy. He may turn out to be even better.
Leonard could have been talking about not resigning Lopez and how his minutes will increase because of that.Love the optimism Wook....but even you must concede that interview did not look at all good. LMA on turning down a 3yr max extension--the highest possible said:I'm happy to stay, happy to be here, happy with the direction the team has gone the last year or two," Aldridge told The Oregonian in a phone interview. "This has no impact on my interest in staying in Portland. I just want to get a five-year deal. I feel like that's the best decision on my part."
Last month, owner Paul Allen and general manager Neil Olshey traveled to Los Angeles to reaffirm their commitment to the franchise cornerstone and recruit him to stay in Portland long term, presenting two scenarios allowed under the NBA collective bargaining agreement to make that happen.
In the first scenario, Aldridge — who is entering the final year of a five-year, $65 million contract — could sign an extension this offseason worth $55 million over three years. In another, he could wait until next summer and sign a five-year, $108 million maximum extension that could keep in Portland through the 2019-20 season.
After mulling the offers over for a couple weeks, Aldridge decided it made the most sense to wait until next summer.
True. It certainly seemed like he thought he would get his chance. Some of RoLo's minutes would definately go to Plumlee too.Leonard could have been talking about not resigning Lopez and how his minutes will increase because of that.
so when he said he wasn't signing the 3yr max extension because he was waiting for the 5yr...?
changing your mind doesn't mean you didn't lie. That's like telling your wife that you'd never cheat on her, do it anyway, the say you didn't lie because you just "changed your mind" and decided to.True. My point was that may have been his sincere intention then. He may have changed his mind over the last 12 months, it happens. I don't think that makes him a liar, just my opinion. If he said he was staying this free agency, then signed elsewhere, fine, strike the match.
THIS^^^^ all of this. Dude straight up said he was gonna wait. Led us to believe he was staying. Noooooopeso when he said he wasn't signing the 3yr max extension because he was waiting for the 5yr...?
I see your point - good example. But I would say that in order to lie you have to know your real intentions or the truth at that point. When I married my wife, I swore that I would never cheat on her - that was and always will be my intention. If I then cheat, did I lie back then, or did I make a mistake now? If Aldridge really did intend on signing the 5 year offer this year, I don't think he lied. The landscape changed. Wes got hurt.changing your mind doesn't mean you didn't lie.
