Kim Hughes: We lost LaMarcus Aldridge

Assuming Hughes is correct and LMA is gonzo, Monroe would likely be our primary target. But what other free agents should we go after? Any player that we should look at in trades?
I'm sure he is our primary target, but why should he want to come here? What do we have, a sometimes clutch shooting PG who is not a great distributor and poor on defense; plus a bunch of guys who have not really proved they are better than average NBA players. Sorry, but this is not looking good. At this point I guess i would take a chance on Hibbert, even though I have opposed the idea in the past. Not sure who else is left out there if Monroe signs elsewhere.

That's why I said it sounded like opinion... anyone reading the news would be assuming Lamarcus is gone.

Hughes just wants the diva gone so he can work with some up and comer's like Vonleh and Plumlee.

He knows nothing about free agency - sure.

BUT, he's around the team, he's close to guys on the team. He talks with people close to the situation. I'm sure he has a general sense of where Aldridge's head is (has) been at.

Like I said, Aldridge is fickle and there's still a chance Olshey convinces him to come back. I believe Woj when he says LMA is fond of Olshey. That only goes so far though. I'm really souring on LMA the person.

Tough video to to watch. If someone wants to flush nine years, franchise records and $28MM to leave, then you don't cry, you move forward. Economic thinking. We go young and we don't look back.

In the NBA, you generally have to get bad to get good. I don't think we try to replace his salary slot. No sign and trade. Just let him walk. I think we keep the cap space and play the kids, Find out what we have, and then try to fill holes in the next year or two.

All I can say if that's his decision, then Aldridge doesn't deserve us.

He's my favorite player and this madness has gotten to me as well. The comments about Gasol entertaining zero offers was what I hoped Aldridge would do.

I'm living in denial, trying to orchestrate this is some master plan by Olshey to land other free agents, but it's still hard to swallow.

I want this day to end

Agree 100%

Aldridge was my favorite player during the mini Roy era. Watching his smooth jumpshot and pick and pops was fascinating.

Lillard quickly took that crown away though. Wes Matthews as well. Just something about the way Aldridge carries himself throws me off. Never know what the guy is thinking. It's weird because his personality is a lot like mine, but looking at it now I can see how frustrating it is to deal with someone with that type of personality.

Let's just say this. Assuming Lillard is the only starter from last year to remain, I'll still be proud rocking my Matthews and Batum jerseys. Aldridge's will get tucked away in the closet though for sure.

Well if we did still have a chance at Aldridge coming into today, I'm sure hearing an assistant coach state on video that you're gone and that the team is now going young will not exactly inspire him to return. Seems he was gone anyway, but still. What a stupid thing to say.

He might know LA outside of work though. They might hang out. LA might have told him he wasn't coming back. I wouldn't totally discount it.

That's incredibly stupid. Don't you realize how dry it is right now? You'll probably end up burning down some poor homeless bastard's camp if you do this.
thatll be Aldridge's fault though....

With no Nic, Wes or LA next season, the opposing teams will be all over Dame..... All night! Gonna be tough to watch.

Sent from my Baller-Ass 5.5" iPhone 6+......... FAMS

So teams are not going to have to guard CJ or Leonard?

We are a lottery team without LA but do not think it will be for long. I look forward to seeing these guys develop.

Hughes responded, "Let me preface this by saying that Chris is retarded, okay? He's really not, but he is emotionally handicapped."

When pressed about Hughes reported comments, four days prior to the start of free agency, that LaMarcus Aldridge was not returning to the Trail Blazers, Olshey responded: Kim Hughes is retarded, okay? No he really is. And he's socially handicapped. I mean, the guy has no internal filter. Full retard.

When he stays, many won't deserve Aldridge.

@BlazerWookee you get mad props for hanging in there. You get to talk crazy shit if/when you are right. However, if/when you happen to be wrong I hope you stand in here and take it like a man cus you are going to get some crap slung at you (not by me but it will happen).

Wook, I love your optimism. However, Aldridge didn't need to put us through this Hamlet routine. His wavering has now cost us a shot at some pretty good FAs. He could have said he's re-signing, and started recruiting guys. Even if he wanted to return, he's hurt this team.
