What is it with them? Is it like they are super open to whining about their contracts or something? Plenty of NBA players have concerns about their contractual status/roles, but they don't go around blabbing it to everyone, and their agents don't release information like this.

I mean, seriously..

Pau Gasol
Jorge Garbajosa
Juan Carlos Navarro
Sergio Rodruiguez
Ricky Rubio
Jose Calderon - Kind of complained before Toronto gave him his payday
And now Rudy Fernandez

Am I missing anyone? Marc Gasol is the only player in recent memory in which I haven't heard anything yet. These Spanish players are giving me a headache...

How do you know what was posted is even true (about Rudy).

It seems like stories like these always come from Spanish players....and way more frequently than with American players. I feel your need to defend Rudy, but why is it that these stories always originate from these players?

What the story claims makes sense though. Rudy was sucked in by KP and Nate to come here with the promise of a big role. Now he thinks we're going to reduce his role by bringing in a player that is going to need big minutes. I can see why he'd be angry. (If he was indeed angry)

I've noticed that, too. There seems to be much more of a sense of entitlement to the Spanish players. I have no idea if it's a cultural thing. Considering the extreme lack of insensitivity in the "slanted eyes" team photo prior to Beijing and their response, I'm guessing it is to some degree.

Spain complained so ridiculously much in the Olympic Final that it was embarrassing. They literally had bench players step onto the court to yell at the refs, and on some plays they were whining before the play was even over.

I'll withhold judgement on Rudy for now, but I agree those guys have a bad rep for being whiners.

Lebron and co were just as bad whining (except for the bench stepping on the court) the only person I didnt hate on that team was Kobe of all people lol.

Well look at how they play too. They all flop, never EVER think they foul when they do. They are a bunch of fucking Nancy boys.

Fuck Claver too!!!!!!!!!1

Have you noticed they are all soft too?

Pau Gasol - He was in Memphis. Seems like half this rookie class didn't want to play there, that's a pretty good excuse. His "whining" was more like a talented player wasting his prime with a shitty organization.
Jorge Garbajosa - What did he do?
Juan Carlos Navarro - see above. He's a whiner because he preferred to have a bigger role and make a lot more money with Barcelona?
Sergio Rodriguez - agreed.
Ricky Rubio - dude has to pay $6m to come here, he gets a free pass. Meanwhile, guys like Kobe and Francis whine just because they wanted to land in a big market.
Jose Calderon - if you think he was bad, see TJ Ford.
Rudy Fernandez - allegedly.

its cause they can go play in Europe for decent money too...American players dont wanna go to Europe

But Pablo Picasso was never called an asshole.

Incidentally, check out the stuff about Rudy's basketball camp for kids. What an asshole! Actually there the whole time instead of breezing in briefly as is the true American way.

Different culture, they get all fired up and say things out of emotion. This does not mean it will be a long term problem. This is counter to the protestant approach many are used to in the United States. It is a Latin thing.

Here's a question: is the flopping and perceived whining related? Do they stem from a common cultural trait, or is it just coincidence?

I've heard that some Americans will make huge generalizations about an entire nationality because of some unsubstantiated internet rumors. That means that all Americans are whiny jerks!

One effect of this Rudy Rumor is that my ignore list is sure growing.

Well he actually named the players,,,and u cant deny those players complain more than most

This is way too philosophical for me, but I am pretty sure that Georges Braque called Picasso a flopper on his twitter stream.

Complain about what? They don't complain on the court more than most. Your boy Bryant complains about EVERYTHING. He perpetually looks as if somebody's crapped under his nose. If you're saying that their agents make demands more than most - maybe. But their agents would be bad agents if they didn't, because those players typically have more leverage than most. They really would get paid more if they stayed in Spain (in most cases - not Gasol's now, but I don't recall Gasol actually complaining as much as most American stars would in his shitty situation in Memphis. And if they didn't complain, it'd be because they were okay with an organization that didn't care about winning.)
