Kings looking to trade Jason Thompson

Reasonable contract of around $6MM for a couple more years with a 3rd season only partially guaranteed. Career 10 points, 7 rebounds per games shooting 50% from field. Not a very good FT shooter (.669) but a more polished, accomplished player than either Freeland or Robinson. I like some of what both players have brought but the bench is still a weakness on almost a nightly basis and needs some improvement.

At some point, if the Blazers continue this much of a run, I'd like to see them make some type of improvement to the bench. Other suggestions?

Lowry looks to be available. That'd be a great get. Wonder what the asking price is for him? For Thompson, it cant be too much, or.. I should say, shouldnt be... but that contract does make it tough. Claver/Crabbe? Freeland?

I like Robinson. I don't think Thompson is worth it. I'd either look to upgrade the center position or the backup point guard position.

Not very interested... If there are any deals, I would hope it be a legit distributing PG (maynor should have been kept) or a center (jerm, dalembert or Evans) caliber.

Yeah. I honestly think that adding a decent point guard would actually improve the play of Wright, Robinson and Freeland. Maybe Lowry would be a big enough improvement over Mo that we wouldn't need to add anyone else?

I don't mind JT as a backup guy who can split time at either the 4 or the 5, but is he enough of an upgrade over our current bench bigs to warrant a move? Perhaps, but it just doesn't feel like a big enough bang for the buck to make the the inevitable shakeup worth it.

I definitely think freeland and t rob are capable enough to be productive for a contending team. The problem is how the flow takes a shit when the starters come out.

Here's the problem.... 2-5 on threes.... 0-4 for everywhere else. He only had two makes, both were threes. He is not shooting well when he tries to put it on the floor. He needs to just set up shop on the perimeter, and if the shot isn't there, rotate the ball. Nothing good comes out of him putting it on the floor.

I'm very "meh" on Thompson. Back when we didn't have a C I wanted him. But I've never been impressed by him. I think both Freeland and Robinson play "better" than Thompson (Freeland has higher IQ and Robinson has better hustle), and Robinson will definitely be better than him, if not by the Playoffs, then certainly next season.

I would love to see us bring in Lowry and maybe a center. Asik is much too expensive, but Hawes would be a huge steal. Not sure if Philly is looking to deal him.

I think Lowry would be a great 'get'. It is a dimension the Blazers don't have and I like unique role players. Hawes would be good as well and I think he'd like to be here....it's whether Philly is shopping him.

I'm also wary of how many guys we actually send out. We have great chemistry right now, and I'd hate to blow up most of the bench to bring in a couple guys that might only stay one year.

That is absolutely in NeO's consideration via what some have shared. Part of the problem is the Blazers 1st round pick goes to Charlotte and they have no 2nd round pick till 2018. If he can make the move with any of Freeland (get a big back), Claver, Barton, Williams, Watson, Crabbe, it sounds like he would seriously consider it. Who wouldn't?

I love Dorrell Wright and think he should be held from any deal. He's still finding his feet with this team and is used to more minutes with which to warm up.

Exactly. 41% from the field, 36% from '3', less than a 2:1 A/T ratio and although he gambles and gets some steals, his 'D' is quite poor. Lowry isn't any better of a shooter (almost identical this year from the floor and the arc) but his A/T ratio is almost 3:1 and his defense is certainly much better.

I agree with not messing with the chemistry but if a deal can be made that helps a bench that is near the bottom of the league and NeO (unlike Trader Bob) believes chemistry won't be affected, I'd have to trust that. Nothing helps chemistry like winning. We are all happy the bench is better than last year but in terms of comparison with other teams, we are still quite bad.

People are making far too big a deal of our chemistry. Chemistry will NOT last 82 games. At some point our chemistry will disappear, regardless of whether the roster remains unchanged.
