Without a first-round pick, the Knicks realize the player they select past 11 p.m.Thursday night late in the second round is hardly a shoo-in for a rotation. But this will be their first crack at adding to a depleted backcourt as general manager Glen Grunwald runs his first draft as final decision-maker.

Three backcourt men the Knicks are considering taking at No. 48 are 6-foot-3 Marquette combo guard Darius Johnson-Odom, Georgetown 6-7 shooting guard Hollis Thompson and 6-6 Tennesee Tech shooting guard Kevin Murphy, according a person familiar with the situation.

One wild card also is 6-8 Texas A&M small forward Khris Middleton, who also can play shooting guard, but scouts are concerned after a lackluster junior year plagued all season by ankle issues.

In a draft weak at point guard, Grunwald probably is going to take more of an athletic two-guard. Though the Knicks worked out Iona playmaker Scott Machado, he only would be added if he goes undrafted. The Knicks have just one guard under contract, on-the-periphery Toney Douglas. They are expected to re-sign shooting Landry Fields and J.R. Smith, but it’s no lock. Neither is Iman Shumpert’s return from an ACL tear in January.
