Tatum with a torn achilles makes the 3-1 series deficit extremely difficult to overcome. hottake#.

That game played out exactly like I thought it would. I knew the Knicks were going to play well tonight, and play their best game of the series, especially after the awful game 3 performance. Didn't know if they'd win for sure since Boston is a very good team, but I knew the Knicks would play well.

On top of that, when they were only down 11 at the half despite Boston shooting 12-24 from 3P range while the Knicks were 7-19 from 3P range, and the Boston attempted 15 FT's to the Knicks only attempting 4 FT's, I thought the Knicks were in a great spot despite trailing by 11.

I felt we were sitting on a Brunson big game; he was due. OG was due as I mentioned earlier. Towns and Bridges got it done. And kudos to Tibs for sticking to the formula that I mentioned after game 1, Robinson and McBride both need to play 20 minutes +/- for the Knicks to be at their best, Robinson played 25 & McBride played 20. Perfect.

I agree Grey, that looked like a torn achilles to me as well. Those non-contact injuries are the worst, and almost always means something popped and tore. Add in he was in anguish, couldn't put any weight on it, was in a wheelchair after the game, and had his head in his hands, I'd say he's done for a long while, and most likely he'll miss next season.

If Tatum is out, and I'd say 99% he is, this series is over. No shot Boston comes back from down 3-1 without him. They may win game 5 in Boston, but the Knicks end it in 6 worst case if Tatum is done.

How crazy is it both the Cavs and Celts, by far the two best teams in the East (and 2 of the big 3 teams in the NBA), trail 3-1 and both appear to be done in round 2. Upsets like that NEVER happen in the NBA, certainly not in round 2. Even crazier, the Knicks will have home court in the ECF if the Pacers and Knicks finish off their series, a rematch of round 2 last season (with Mitchell hurting I'd be shocked if the Pacers don't hold on just like us).

This is for another day, but if they both hold on, the Pacers series is going to be very tough, they are a very good team, better than last season. At best it is a tossup series.

A potential ECF trip, with home court, very exciting stuff. Don't take anything for granted or get overconfident, finish your business and move on. It's good for the Knicks we have a quick turnaround to game 5 on Wednesday night, no extra day off helps the Knicks IMO.

Good thing is these playoffs the knicks have been pretty healthy so far unlike like last playoffs.

Don’t like to see anyone injured. That looked like an achilles tear for Tatum.

Yup, had surgery for a torn Achilles. Knew it when it happened.

Even though I believe the Knicks would win a game 6 at MSG if it got to that point, I think it's important to win game 5 and end this series. The obvious reason is don't give the Celts any life at all. In addition, Indiana ended their series tonight, so they are sitting and resting now. If the Knicks go 6, that gives the Pacers 3 extra days rest going into the ECF.

It looks like the ECF won't start on TNT until Monday at the earliest (it could also start Wednesday, but that seems unlikely if the Knicks end it in 6), so worst case the Knicks should get two days off if they win game 6 Friday night, but I rather have 4 days off and finish it in game 5.

To me the Knicks should mirror Indiana again and end this. Not only is Tatum out, which is a crusher for Boston in the game, you have to figure they are demoralized mentally as a team after Tatum's injury knowing he'll miss next season as well. If the Knicks are focused on business and not complacent, they should end it tomorrow night. We'll see.

That was disappointing. A total no show in the 2nd half. I expect the Knicks to win game 6, but nothing is ever for sure.

Now they have to play an extra game, and all the pressure will be on the Knicks, you do not want to go back to Boston for a game 7. The Pacers are sitting resting, will have minimum 3 extra days rest, and playing an extra game risks injury and puts more minutes on your players (not to mention you could lose of course). I expect the ECF to start Monday night, so the Knicks will get 2 days off assuming they win game 6.

OG has been a no show in 3 of the past 4 games, 1-12 tonight, wow (he needs to be much better and more consistent - he's paid like a star), Bridges was a no show, Towns was not impactful at all, the Knicks have been down by 14 points or more in all 5 games, and 20 or more in 4 of 5 games. The Knicks played almost zero D tonight and decided not to guard White at all really.

They better come ready to play a full committed 48 on Friday night, otherwise they'll be heading back to Boston and looking at a collapse.

What a disappointment...SMH.

The ECF schedule was released today, and it doesn't start until Wednesday. For MANY reasons, the Knicks need to finish this in game 6. If they do, they'll get 4 days off. If they don't, not only could they very likely lose game 7 at Boston, if they win, they'll only get one day off as game 7 is scheduled for Monday in Boston. It is HUGE the Knicks finish this in game 6.

At least we have one game 7 this round, Denver beat OKC to force a deciding game Sunday afternoon.

Not only could the Knicks obviously lose if they have to play game 7 Monday night in Boston, but I will also say right now if they don't end it tonight, they will not beat Indiana in the ECF, even if they win game 7 in Boston (which would be unlikely IMO). I think tonight is a huge must win for the Knicks, both to end this series and to have a legit shot at beating Indiana.

Win tonight, move on to the ECF for the first time since 2000, get 4 days' rest, and go from there hosting Indiana Wednesday night at MSG. That has to be the formula.

I do believe the Knicks will play well and end it tonight, but they have to get it done.

Couldn’t have asked for a better night. A complete laugher to get to the ECF. The Pacers will be tough but home court advantage for a chance to get to the finals. Great season they can hopefully continue.

Totally agree, tonight was perfect. Got the win, didn't have to sweat it, and the starters didn't play crazy minutes. Now they get 4 days off to rest and get ready for the Pacers at MSG starting Wednesday night, series goes every other day from there, every game is 8 PM on TNT. All I ask is TNT does not give us Reggie Miller, please. Hopefully it's Eagle and Hill.

As for the series, I think the Pacers are a very good team as they have shown thus far. They are better than the team that beat us in round 2 last season. It is going to be a long tough series. If the Knicks win, I think it will be in 7, if the Pacers win it will be 6 or 7.

Overall, I think it is a total tossup series that either team can win, most likely destined to be 7 games. The Knicks, and Tibs (keep playing McBride and Robinson 20 mpg +/- each), will need to be at their best, playing smart focused basketball at both ends to win. Should be a lot of fun.

Pacers are the most underrated, disrespected team I can remember in a while. They beat the shit out of Cleveland. Knicks can't have their top center play like a dumbass half the games in this series if they expect to win.

Totally agree on the Pacers, they are really good, this series concerns me. With that said, I get your point about underrated, but I see a lot of people picking the Pacers to win the series, more than I see people picking the Knicks. From an "expert" picking POV, the Pacers are favorites. Vegas has the Knicks as the favorite at -135, and the Knicks are +360 to win the title, second to OKC at +135. It's kind of interesting the pickers are taking the Pacers; the odds are favoring the Knicks. As I wrote, I see a 6 or 7 game series, and like last season if I had to pick, I'd say it's a 7-game series.

The Pacers are essentially the same team as last season outside of Mathurin, who didn't play in the series last season. He is a good add for them, but the biggest difference is their growth and maturity, they gained experience and are simply put a better more confident team this season than last season. I thought the Knicks should have beaten the Pacers last season no doubt, but injuries obviously hurt them. I don't feel that way this season, I think it's a razor close series, and truthfully, I give the Pacers a small edge.

The Knicks had no Robinson, no Randle, OG got hurt during game 2 and was done for the series (not counting a 5 minute clearly still hurt game 7 appearance). They lost Hartenstein and DiVencinzo, but added Bridges, Towns, Robinson, and OG healthy. So, the Knicks are better as well.

I know the Pacers will win a game in NY, will the Knicks win in Indy, I'm not as sure. They are really good at home, and not as good on the road. That's the story of the series, can the Knicks get one in Indy, if they can we'll get a 7-game series, and the Knicks can win game 7 at home. If they cannot, the Pacers will win in 6.

BTW - I'd love to see Denver beat OKC. VERY VERY slim chance they will, but I would love it.

Just read Kevin Harlan/Reggie Miller will be calling the Pacers/Knicks series on TNT (their final series as they lose basketball after this season), total BS IMO. How do you put all-time Pacers legend, and Knicks hater on the call for this series, do better TNT. The NBA is not a fan of the Knicks from what I see.

I like TNT miles more than ESPN for both the basketball and hockey playoffs but putting Miller on the call is a joke. Not only does he have the Pacers/Knicks history, but I would also tell you he is nowhere near their best analyst, IMO he actually sucks at his job even without the Pacers/Knicks ties. How he moved to their # 1 team is beyond me. Give me Eagle/Hill or Dedes/SVG/Anthony. I like Harlan, but I'm not sure how Miller is his partner, poor decision.

I actually don’t mind Reggie as an analyst now and doing these games. I couldn’t stand him as a player but he is more likable now than during his playing career.

In no way shape or form is game 1 a must win, but I do think it is important for the Knicks. If you lose game 1, game 2 becomes a must win, you'll need to win 2 of 3 games as you wouldn't want to be down 3-1, and as I see it you need to win 3 of 4 games as you don't want to be down 3-2 going to Indy for game 6. If they lose game 1, they can still win the series, but it gets much tougher.

Play well tonight, set a good tone, and get off to a good start.

Something tells me the Knicks are losing this series and it will get the coach fired.

One up there for sure with Reggie Miller doing the game on top of it. What a fucking nightmare
