I agree with that to a certain extent, but it's really much more simple than that, if he stays out of foul trouble he relaxes and comes out of his shell.
...and he's probably picking up on the trend that he gets more leeway with the whistles at home then on the road

Absolutely.

OTOH, it is games like this that make the 4 pt, 4 rb, 0 blk games all the harder to understand.

That is 100% my take as well. I don't understand how Nick Collison can make the guy a non-factor. I'm going to put the blame where it should be...on Greg's effort. He can dominate 90% of NBA players physically if he exerts himself and is into the game.

I will be confused (and maybe even concerned somwhere) when I see those without foul trouble and with over 24 minutes played.

While I haven't looked this up, I would bet that almost all of his "bad" games (define that however you want) are in very low minutes-played games. Whether that's because of foul trouble or because Nate's taking him out because of matchups or because Nate can sense when he's just going to suck with more minutes I am not sure.

I think it's most likely that foul trouble is the source of almost all of his lack of productivity, and I'm very confident that he'll learn how to avoid that over time...

How is he supposed to get shots on his own? I don't see how he can be blamed when he gets NO shots through a whole half because he gets so few touches on the blocks.

It makes it much easier to understand if you view it in the context of a rookie big man having an up and down season.

Let's give Oden a break. Just for a little while longer.

for some reasons those posters can't hear you

Classic! :biglaugh:

I'm happy Portland was able to pull it out in the end. I think that Greg still needs time to really start showing what he can do. I almost feel like he needs to prove it to himself. He has to put in atleast 3 years before I call him a bust. I'd love to see him come out of the gate and crush other bigmen, but I'm in the camp that believes that it is going to take time.

you can't honestly think that nick collison made oden a nonfactor and actually have watched the thunder game.

Sure he could. And so did Nate.

Apparently they know something you don't.:dunno:

Yeah. That's my opinion as well. I'm not the one wanting the coach to be fired or blaming every teammate of Oden's for his inconsistency.

Do they know telekinesis? Because otherwise I don't see how Collison could stop Oden from touching the ball enough to get a single field goal attempt in three of the four quarters.

I am finally back from the game (stopped to have dinner out with the wife after the game - it's nice when you have the in-laws doing the baby-sitting thing when they are in town).

My wife loved the game. I hated it. I hated how stagnant we got there in the 2nd half. I hated how awful our perimeter defense was. I loved the fact that in the end Travis and Brandon just put their head down and made sure we won this game - and Greg looked fantastic there - he is amazingly mobile for a big man, isn't he?

But - the more we see this team playing defense without Blake - the clearer it becomes that as bad as we thought he is on defense - he is still head and shoulders better than Sergio. Rudy could not buy a bucket - but his defense actually looks a lot better in person than it did earlier in the year (I was out of the country for a long business trip - it's been a while since I got to see the team in person).

fool gold win tonight. defense is just awful. if we dont make a trade.....expect more losses to teams like okc. it took a 8-0 run to win vs the kniks at home...thats a disgrace

have any of the wins this season not been fools gold?

you already admitted you didn't watch the game because it was blacked out Connecticut where you live. Now you're passing judgement on it as a bad win because they had to come through in the clutch???

I was at the game and have mixed feelings. Nice to see them pull it out at the end, but the Knicks also imploded with a sizable lead. The perimeter defense tonight was simply awful and we dodged some bullets during the comeback when they bricked open jumpers.

I've never seen a team do so much showboating after shots as the Knicks were doing. This loss was karma for that crap.

Seriously I hate to say Mixum was right, but this win was much worse than the NO comeback. Brandon Roy just saved me from puking. Man I need to stop coming to this forum! It's taking the fun out of the team!

Ya, I couldn't believe the celebrating by their players in the 3rd quarter. It was like they had won the game. I guess they have to celebrate while they can.

I just want BRoy to know that if he wants to have sex with me..................... I totally would!

seriously. roy shoulda went and celebrated by them lol....those guys were jumping and acting like they won the game with like 8 minutes left. i bet their coaches were pissed when they did that

"The Knicks had a foul to give on the possession, but didn't use it. In fact, according to David Lee, it was not even brought up during a timeout before Roy's winner" :smiley-eek2:

Fire Nate? :)

This game was just about the most unhappy I've ever felt after a victory. I almost felt guilty because our team deserved to lose to a scrub Knick team.

What about the game that Hedo banked in a three at the buzzer? Or where the Clippers lucked into getting into OT with us?

Sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you don't. I am pleased when we get a win because Lady Luck smiles on us.

Also... you remember that the Lakers had to come from behind against the Knicks to win by 2 in LA, right? Did that near-loss hurt the Lakers this year?

look at this way.....

WE SHOULD HAVE BEAT ..... THE CLIPPERS AND MAGIC GAMES

WE SHOULD HAVE LOST ..... THE KNICKS AND ROCKETS GAMES

It usually evens out...
