Oh shit. Will this never end. If Kobe weren't a Laker, he'd have gotten 1% as much publicity in his life, and in his death.

Hey, I have no problem with a mod placing this thread wherever they'd like it. It occurred to me, though, that Kobe Bryant was more than just a talented basketball player and a person who transcended many social circles.
 
MJ doesn't usually get out and do these things. His speech was awesome.

Really brave of Vanessa to do this, I thought. Reading around reddit, I think it actually brought a lot of closure to some fans, and maybe the family too.

Why should one of our moderators have to risk his high-quality moderator career with such decisions? You are looking like a closet Laker fan.

Mod: Note that I did not insult him by calling him a despicable, low-life Laker fan. I only said that he looks like one. Also, I faked like I praised you, so you should like me.

Vanessa Bryant is going to use the money from Kobe's estate to buy the Blazers.

Vanessa may have dirty pictures of Jody Allen, who is a piker compared to all that Los Angeles money.
 
I watched most of it. I wouldn’t call it amazing but I’m sure it helped people.
 
I;m no Kobe expert, but there was a time I thought he was a punk, chump, rapist who came very close to being divorced by his wife. Never gave him the time of day, really. And, effectively hated him and Shaq for the damage they and the L*kers did against the Blazers.

That said, it appears that, upon retiring from the game, he really made strides to become a model husband and father to his kids. Second chances are worthy of note. Evidently, he made the most of his. Sad that his life was cut so short he won't be able to reap those benefits as the rest of his kids grow up.
 
My son was born February 24th ('06). I'm like, "sorry kid--the Bryants wore 2 and 24, so your birthday has been co-opted. I'm sure you understand."
