Dang you would think she would just ask her son to borrow some cash.

It was talked about on espn. Guess Kobe sent the cops with him. She was selling his high school and early nba shit

Kobe Bryant is in a tooth-and-nail fight with his mother over some priceless basketball memorabilia, including his 1998 All Star ring.

Seems Kobe's mom, Pamela Bryant, made a deal with Goldin Auctions to sell hoards of Kobe's bball swag, including a 2000 All Star game signed ball, game and practice jerseys from his days at Lower Merion High School, a Lakers jacket and shorts, trophies, his varsity high school letters and lots of other stuff.

According to a lawsuit ... obtained by TMZ ... the auction house gave Pamela a $450,000 advance, which she says will be used immediately to buy a new home. According to the lawsuit, Pamela told the auction house Kobe gave her all the stuff outright 5 years ago.

But Kobe has beef, claiming he's the owner of the stuff and he's trying to block the auction.

So a fearful Goldin Auctions has gone to court, naming Kobe as the defendant and asking a judge to declare Pamela the owner of the goods.

A judge has yet to rule.

This is a better article....

For years, Pamela Bryant kept asking her son: Do you still want all this stuff that I'm keeping for you - your old basketball jerseys, your sports awards, your high school trophies?

And for years, according to a lawsuit filed in federal court in Camden on Thursday, the son, now 34, was content to let it all sit around at the house.

Until ...

Until Pamela Bryant, Kobe Bryant's mother, wanted to auction it off for an expected $1.5 million so she could use the money to buy a house in Nevada.

That's when the Los Angeles Lakers shooting star (and Lower Merion High School basketball phenomenon) put the brakes on the idea, sending a cease-and-desist letter to the auctioneer, Goldin Auctions L.L.C. of West Berlin.

The 42 items of merchandise, which include several Lower Merion uniforms worn by the player and two 2000 Lakers Championship rings designed for his parents, were to go up for auction in June, each authenticated as genuine by Pamela Bryant.

In a tale of what can happen when adult children move on but leave behind their "treasures," Goldin filed suit asking the judge to clarify ownership of the memorabilia and clear the way for the auction.

"A team-issued championship ring is among the most treasured of all sports collectibles and the opportunity to own one from an active player as significant as Kobe Bryant is rare," company founder Ken Goldin said in an April 30 news release announcing the auction of the memorabilia.

"Normally, items like these can only be viewed in a museum or the Hall of Fame," he said. "We are honored to be able to make these offerings to collectors around the world."

Kobe Bryant's Los Angeles lawyer, Mark Campbell of Loeb & Loeb L.L.P., was considerably less communicative. "Mr. Bryant's personal property has ended up in the possession of someone who does not lawfully own it," the law firm said in an e-mailed statement.

"We look forward to resolving this legal matter through the legal system. There will be no further comment at this time."

According to the lawsuit, Pamela Bryant had been storing some of her son's memorabilia for at least 15 years - his high school uniform shorts and jerseys date back to 1994 and there's even a Sonny Hill League Future Stars Champion trophy from 1992, when he was still in middle school.

Seven or eight years ago, well after Kobe had gotten married, Pamela Bryant asked her son's wife, Vanessa, if she wanted the items. She said no - those items belonged to the past, according to the suit.

And so, five years ago, the lawsuit says, Pamela Bryant packed up the jerseys, the championship rings, and award plaques, spending $1,500 a month to store and insure them in West Berlin.

"Pamela Bryant indicated to Ken Goldin that Kobe Bryant has never demanded the return of any of the items, nor were they in any way taken from [him] without his permission," the suit says.

Mother and son haven't always been close. According to reports, Kobe Bryant's parents, who are African American, didn't attend his wedding because they thought at 21 he was too young and because his wife is not black. But like most disapproving parents, they came around with the birth of a grandchild, a girl.

Filed 10 days before Mother's Day, the lawsuit does not detail how mother and son are getting along these days.

According to the lawsuit, Pamela Bryant has received a pre-auction consigning fee of $450,000 and has used it to buy a house.

It's not clear whether she and her husband still own their Modern house in the Greenhill Farms neighborhood, just on the Philadelphia side of City Avenue from Lower Merion.

The lawsuit says that after Goldin received Kobe Bryant's cease-and-desist letter, he called Pamela Bryant, who was in Thailand. Her husband, Joseph "Jellybean" Bryant, a former 76ers player and La Salle University basketball coach, now coaches a Thai team.

She assured Goldin, the suit says, that she was the legal owner of the items and that Goldin should go ahead with the auction. Goldin is being represented by Jeffrey A. Cohen and Rachel E. Licausi of Flaster Greenberg P.C. in Cherry Hill. Goldin declined to comment.

Dang she's auctioning off the championship rings? Ouch!!!

Screwed up situation. I imagine something bad happened between Kobe and mom, else I would suspect Kobe would use some of his 200mil to buy her a new home. Also, a mom selling her sons championship ring sounds like a very selfish mother. I bet she's of the devil.

Like mother like son?

The story they posted today on SI.com was real interesting.

Supposedly, Mom wants to buy a new house in Las Vegas. Kobe gave her $250K......and she flipped her shit and demanded more. He said "no", so she decided to sell his stuff to raise the money.

If true, this woman has to have a screw loose. It also explains a lot about Kobe.

Big time. I know I'd be all kinds of pissed if my parents didn't come to my wedding cause I married out of my race.

250 doesn't buy much of a house in Vegas.

A nice, but small condo. If you want a 3000 square foot modern home with a landscaped yard, nice pool, in a nice, safe neighborhood, you need to spend 500+.

I can see dear old mom going out with the realtor after telling her the Kobe budget, THEN flipping out after seeing what that gets you in a house.

I'd take a ~2500 sq. foot house listed at $250k.

Big time. I know I'd be all kinds of pissed if my parents didn't come to my wedding cause I was blackmailed by some chick i was bangin's grandparents because I was fucking her when she was underaged

Fixed that for you

hoop fam

She lives in a house Kobe bought her and wants a second so she can screw around in Vegas. Maybe it's her 3rd house. I don't know.

Get your stuff out of your parents house long before they die!

My mother kept her college papers at my grandmother's summer cottage, which went to my uncle, who then threw out all my mother's stuff. When my parents died, I lost things, too.

Well almost all homes in Vegas have pools. It is not IF it has a hole in the ground, it is what it looks like that counts.

I also said "nice" and "safe".

Vegas has a high crime rate in general. Safe = guard gated and patrolled, or if not that most of the safer areas are in Summerlin area, or even better is Henderson with it's own police department.

Nice = built or fully remodeled in last 10 years. Lush and mature landscaping. High End pool.

Here are a couple of examples of what I am talking about. Safe neighborhoods. Nice houses. Small, but nice yards and pools. But, these houses will not blow you away. They won't impress anybody in Vegas. And, try finding a bunch of houses like this to buy right now. You won't. Inventory is tight and the nicest ones go fast. Like I said, Kobe giving $250k to his mom was really saying "go get a (small) Condo in a secured building. Cause that's all you can get. Kobe's mom isn't going to live in Paradise.

Yeah, what's with this notion that Vegas was expensive that some poster was bumbling about? My cousin lives in an awesome house with a pool that she got by herself on her lone income in LV.

If the judge allows the auction to go ahead, the price just went up.

The big FU to mom would be if the judge gives the stuff back to Kobe and he puts it up for auction.
