Ugh wow.....

That Roy is unsigned is particularly alarming and a signal that negotiations have snagged. Word is that Roy wants to sign for the maximum allowed five years, but the Blazers only want to commit to four years. A five-year deal would cost Portland about $82 million, although it won't be determined until the 2010-11 salary cap is set.

That a player of Roy's talent and character wants to lock in his future with your club should be embraced and lauded. Instead, the team is nickel-and-diming him with the amount of years. It's bad form.

If there was ever a no-brainer in extensions, it's that of Roy. You give him the maximum contract allowed. No hesitation. No questions asked. No nothing, other than showing him the courtesy of signing him the minute the signing moratorium ended Tuesday night.

Toronto did it with former No. 1 pick Andrea Bargnani, who inked a 5-year, $50 million deal.

If Bargnani has earned that type of respect, certainly Aldridge and Roy have. Especially Roy. He has done everything asked of him on the court, where he has put himself on track to become the franchise's greatest player of all time, and off the court, becoming the team's go-to player for public appearances and community relations as well as tirelessly serving as the team's spokesman to the media.

The Bargnani signing, by the way, was just more fuel to the fire engulfing Pritchard.

The Blazers had hoped to get off paying Aldridge around $10 million a year, but now that the market has been established with Bargnani at $10 million per year, the Blazers' will surely have to pony up at least $11 million per year for Aldridge. At least.

Nothing, absolutely nothing, has gone right for the Blazers this summer.

Are you serious? We're F'ing with our franchise player over a year? Gawd!!!!!

If this is true, this is worth bashing Pritchard/Vulcans/Allen over versus any move not made this summer.

KP is starting to get a little too cute for my taste. Pay the fucking guy.

WTF? Just max out Roy for 5 years!

Getting Milsap will give a little leverage in the LMA contract negotiations.

Why WOULDN'T we want to sign him for the most years possible? If anything, I would have guessed Roy would want less years, and KP would want more.

WTF.. why are we messing with our franchise cornerstones who we expect to be here the next 15 years anyway? Pay both those guys!

As mentioned above, if this is true then what the fuck is KP thinking? Jesus sweet fucking christ, get your franchise player locked into a five year deal.

Which would probably piss Aldridge off, and that's not a good thing. Aldridge seems like a guy that holds grudges.

Love how Quick says both LA (Artest) and Houston (Ariza) have improved when they merely swapped SFs.

How exactly does that work?

Exactly.. this seems exactly what we want anyway. Brandon Roy... an All-NBA second teamer wants to be here, and we want to shortchange the man? Ugh..:crazy::crazy:

Anybody else getting the feeling KP might only be cut out for running the draft and scouting talent? Goddammit :banghead:

On a side note: Rudy was extreamly please with the news and his agent made it clear to the Blazers that Fernandez is ready to step in and fill in for Roy if need be.

Assuming it is true, it's crazy. But I have a hard time believing it. There's no reason why Allen would tell Pritchard to spend money to go for it and they'd use all the cap space to try to sign a pricey Millsap and then try to stiff Roy on a few million dollars.

I don't think this report is giving a full account of what is going on.

I don't even know what to think if this is true.

I'm pissed.

Again, if this is true, Pritchard/Vulcans need to be held accountable, especially considering they offered HEDO F**KING TURKOGLU FIVE YEARS. Sign Roy, YESTERDAY, and LMA too.

I don't even know where to start, so I think it's best for everyone if I sit back and let this play out a bit.

haha.. good point. Hedo for five years, and Brandon for four?? That doesn't make any sense... I'm hoping Quick is just talking about his ass on this one. If not, then someone needs to be fired!

I'll join you on the bench, but if this is true, I'm beginning to see you in a new light, my man.

It would be absolutely mind-boggling if it is true that they're trying to get Roy to a four year contract instead of a five year one. There is just no conceivable way this makes sense at all.

Why isn't an extension signed yet? 5 years/Max should be a NO BRAINER, yet it hasn't even been rumored yet. Bargnani inked his deal yesterday, yet we still haven't decided to give Roy the max?

Am I missing something here? What the fuck is going on?

I wonder if it's just a team option for the 5th year? Still, don't be f-ing around with the best franchise player this team has seen since Drexler.

I don't believe that this is true...I'll buy that talks are stalling, but for good reason...POR is waiting to sort out thier FA moves 1st before they move on to extending Roy\Aldridge and signing thier 2nd rounders....

It is unfathomable that POR would only offer Roy a 4 year deal instead of a 5yr deal...

I hope Quick is just assuming that because Bargnani signed today, and that Brandon and LaMarcus didn't, that something went wrong... when in reality, the Blazers have just been so focused on Hedo and Millsap and contingency plans that they aren't too worried about our two cornerstones. But we should be getting these guys signed as our first priority.
None of this free agency, cap space, lopsided trade crap means anything to me if we don't get these two signed.

WTF KP!! WTF r u doing..

KP with nervous breakdown or some shit? WTF, SIGN ROY NOW WTFFFF

I'm hoping you're right. If not, I have to view Pritchard in a different way than I currently view him. Then again, this is Jason Quick, so who knows what the real story is at this point.

Anyhow, I might actually listen to Gavin Dawson in the am tomorrow.
