KP wrestling with failure - Roy and Aldridge talks stalled

This tweet from blazersedge sounds good.

Sidenote - I've always been amazed at the level of bi-polar impulsiveness that several posters display, but I've got to say reading this thread brings it to a whole new level. KP has done a great job in Portland, and to act like this over something so insignificant, to even think that Pritchard doesn't want to sign Roy longterm, is unbelievable to me. How can you people honestly believe that Pritchard is that stupid? It would be like a nascar driver forgetting to turn left.

As an example of the level of journalism we're constantly subjected to, here's the latest twitter.

It's probably best to just not believe anything you read, it will save you years of your life by not freaking out so much.

On his radio show, Wheels was interviewing Bobby Medina. A Blazer employee, Bobby Medina said Bayless was there with he, Greg and Conley.

KP will on the BFT at 3:05 p.m. on 95.5 for anyone wanting to listen. Canzano will ask him about Brandon and LA of course.

Audio from KP's press conference will also be on The Game next.

What I did say was it was possible for Portland to have had more money under the cap for free agents then they ended up with. Is this in any way false?

I didn't say what you said is false. I said that what I said was not false, as you alleged.

With previous moves, more room could have been opened up. Based on what moves were made, Pritchard did indeed offer as much as was possible. These are not mutually exclusive.

Where is that Twitter coming from? I thought this was repeatedly confirmed? Re: Jerryd and Oden playing together?

KP press conference recap
- KP said Blazers have definite interest in Paul Millsap and have talked to his agent. They have not made a formal offer, but there are ongoing conversations.
- Ongoing discussions between KP and Brandon and LA’s agents. He was emphatic that they plan on re-signing and plan on having them for a long time. Discussions are ‘amicable’.
- KP didn’t want to get into specifics when asked that the media thought Roy was a max contract, max year player.
- Not getting Hedo was a 'very disappointing experience' and didn't expect it. If a player doesn't think they're a good fit for our team, then the team doesn't feel like they are either.
- The team could have an announcement as short as a few days, or it could be a few weeks in terms of a signing/trade.
- He also mentioned possibly keeping the cap space until the trade deadline and using it then
- The growth of Rudy and Greg are more important than anything else on the team right now.
- They want to see Jerryd become more of a 'thinker' on the floor while playing PG. They know he can score 30 points in a Summer League game, but they want to see growth in the basketball IQ.

If I hear down the road that we didn't upgrade to Hinrich because KP or Nate wanted to hold on to Outlaw I will not be a happy camper.

I enjoy your commentary and witticisms, but dude, it's been a LONG time since you've been a "happy camper."
:biglaugh:

Easier to get the next long term deal at 29 or 30 than 31 or 32.

Not to mention, his deal, due to the economy, is going to be less than what Paul was able to get. I'm surprised he doesn't want to do a three-year deal instead and hopefully re-sign for more money when/if we pull out of this economic dump.

Comments like we love our guys wears on me. Outlaw Blake, Webster, Joel, Rudy and even Batum and Bayless are all easily replacable for the right deal.

I became really jaded when KP didn't use RLEC last deadline.

The multiple trades that have fallen through accoring to Quick in his article are a fact. It's frustrating is all.

As a management professional would you expect him to say anything else? What exactly is the benefit of hearing him say something like "We do not like having Outlaw" even if he does not think so?

For a start - it removes any leverage he has in dealing him and if he fails to get what he wants in return - Outlaw would not be happy here.

There is zero advantage not to repeat this mantra - even if he has other options that he prefer. Zero.

At the end of the day - I suspect that KP really does appreciate what Outlaw and Blake contribute based on their salary (he would have renounced them otherwise) - but I also suspect that he understands that are better options out there - but until these options materialize - they do offer a positive return on investment.

In other words - you are welcome to panic or be as disappointed as you wish - but if you try to think about it logically - it just does not make any sense at all.

It's not that he says it, it's what hasn't happened because of it and the fact that he keeps saying it.

It's not that he says it, it's what hasn't happened because of it and the fact that he keeps saying it.

But the truth is that you do not know what hasn't happened... You speculate... and with all due respect to your uncle... that trade did not come soon...

Again, what he says is 100% the right way to go about it. 100%.

What he does behind the scenes - we can only speculate about. If you want to get upset because of a chain of events you speculate happens - go ahead. Logically, I still think that it makes no sense.

Good info, thanks for passing on.

:dunno:

I have no idea who to believe, so therefore I probably shouldn't flip out until I know the truth. That's the only point I was making.

I really thought that the Bayless twitter was announced as a fake a while back. I could be wrong, but I thought it was, because I quit following it because I heard it was.

Not sure what you're talking about. The link I provided is to blazeredge, not to Bayless' account... Blazeredge had a quote of Bayless, saying he hadn't worked with Greg this summer.

I am not talking about your link. I am talking about the Jerryd Bayless twitter page. I thought I read something back about a week after it started that it was one of a handful of fake twitter sites opened up for NBA players.

Uh, okay. Why'd you quote my post then since this has nothing to do with it?

Fuckin' Kevin Pritchard.

Quit fucking around with the franchise guy and quit dicking around.

KP's ego is starting to get on my nerves.
Fuckin' Jason Quick.

JQ's ego is starting to get on my nerves.

There, I fixed it for you.

Note: Bob Myers, the agent for Blazers guard Brandon Roy, has been tight-lipped throughout negotiations for Roy's contract extension, but on Thursday, Myers said "we are frustrated a deal has not been reached." Roy is asking for a maximum contract in both years (five) and money (estimated $82 million). However, the Blazers have been willing to only grant a four-year contract. The Blazers have until Oct. 31 to sign Roy, and Aldridge, to extensions. If they don't reach agreements, the players can become restricted free agents next summer.

-Apparently, it's coming from his agent.

Well the consensus seems to be Quick is clueless with this issue. . . so Roy's agent must be clueless too.

If Quick and Roy's agent would just listen to KP, they would no there is no problem, there is no frustration . . . everything is amicable, dammit!

BTW-I have no doubt Roy will be a Blazer for years to come . . . not used to Blazers going on the cheap, but it's not like overpaying to bring talent to Ptd worked out the best either.

For someone who's annoyed with GM speak, you sure seem ready to take an NBA agents mantra at face value. Remember, this is the same species that represents Hedo.

Both sides are just doing there jobs. Even Jason, the tool, is just doing his job. Choosing to take the side of an NBA agent and the reporter he chose to use is your decision, but I think it's silly to choose a side at all.

Anytime you see/read what an agent has to say, just think of this.

Next question.

One side says "amicable." The other says "frustrated."

KP, you don't need to doublespeak about every issue. You can be straightforward every once in a while.

It's easy to translate it:

amicable: I'm winning
frustrated: I'm not winning

Roy has injury problems, nuff said.....

And his body is breaking down because his GM can't get the job done helping him out. Knee issues are pretty scary, I sure as hell wouldn't lock up my cap space for someone that might not make it 5 years, too risky in the grand scheme of things.

I blame Todd!
